When will this company stop abusing their sales staff? Notice to any prospective TSM applicants. Corporate will continue to alter your comp plan in their favor every year, and continue to require you to seek other company’s products.

When the message corporate is telling us is that we don’t make any money on these scanners, but we are still required to seek them to earn our digital commissions, it is obvious that the sales team is paying for a executive level mistake. What kind of deal was made? Why would any executive agree to sell another companies products, AS A FAVOR?

It is a clown show. The company has continued to forget that they are a dental implant company. Placing barriers on quarterly bonuses based on products we don’t even rep, eliminating the annual bonus, and making the comp plan so hard to understand that you have to develop software to explain it will never increase sales or revenues. It will increase turnover, frustration, and loss.

Buddy, pal, listen. It's simple. They don't care about you! They know that from this point forward, any new hire or anyone hired within the past 10 years within the salesforce will NOT retire with this company. Heck, there will be (estimating here) 2 new CEO's running this division in the next 10 years, minimum. You think they are playing the long game? Nothing new can come out of the technology of dental implants other than (possibly) packaging the implant with bone cement. But, that will never happen. It's not cost effective and implants heal within 3-8 weeks. Really, no need to rush. Outside of that, what? Encode? It's been around too long and yet still not perfect. What does that tell you. At the end of it all, this company will be purchased by a distributor or a smaller player looking to gain market share any which way they can. You will see the rise of new implant players that are small, count on it. My advice, stop the whining, and either stick it out for a year or so to gain 'equipment sales/capital' experience on the resume or just find a new industry now.
 




Putting products in commissions buckets, adding extra qualifier requirements to bonuses, cutting the dollar one commission rate, and removing the annual bonuses, are all examples of why Jay and Nan have to go. This job requires a rep that has dental experience, and that will take well over a year to become proficient. What rep wants to be at a job for over a year when they cant make any money?

So what’s left? Young inexperienced reps that don’t know dental, and don’t want to learn dental, but just want to use this job as a stepping stone on their resume to an OR position. So you have a constant 24-36 month churn in a majority of territories.

By killing the simple comp plan, leadership has ensured that our reps will no longer shine as tenured assets in an industry full of frat boys and airheads. Instead they will fill their teams with whatever frat boy that is willing to take 3 years to boost their resume. Sadly, that pool is shrinking, as competitive industries now pay much better than dental. A once very attractive career is becoming extinct. The doctors notice it too. They no longer have rep that can help them troubleshoot and provide critical care for patients. They have a pusher trying to make a quick hit before burning bridges on his way out the door.

Shame on you for fixing something that was never broken.

I was told by my manager that every rep would have made more money on the new plan than they made on last years comp plan. Unconvinced I asked her to go over the numbers with me. She replied by telling me that sales leadership was still developing a calculator for the new commission structure.

So let me make sure i understand this.

The company ran the numbers on every territory comparing last years plan to the new plan and verified the new plan was better for every territory, and somehow was able to do that before they developed a calculator to compute the calculations of how this new plan will pay the reps? Um, ok.

Perhaps this is why we all think our leaders have no idea what they are doing. Just because our leadership is incompetent, and middle management is filled with Yes Men, doesn’t mean we have forgotten how to think for ourselves.
 




This company has 0 leadership and our leaders who do speak are a joke. A terrible ESPN Video to announce the agenda of a one day virtual sales meeting?
It is one day because our leaders offer no guidance and have nothing to say. Haven’t heard anything from anyone in leadership since end of December when she was begging for sales. If you haven’t noticed upper Management does not care about the Sales Force and could care less if you leave. Let them run territories for a few months the. Maybe they will appreciate you more. The whole management crew needs to go and we need reps running the show.

These virtual “Awards” meetings are such a joke. If the company thinks i bust my ass all year to have my name flash on a PowerPoint screen a few times for a few seconds then they are more out of touch than I thought they were. Just ship me my award, deposit my bonus, and let me have my evening with my family back.

What’s worse is all the threatening emails regarding having my web camera on and being engaged. How the hell do i engage with a machine? Do I have to constantly keep clicking the stupid hand clapping button? Seriously so dumb.
 




Why is it that these Florida people think we all want to sit and listen to them talk about themselves?
I do not care about what your favorite sport or team is. I do not care about your hobbies. I don’t think your little jokes are funny. I don’t want to see any more photoshopped pictures of your faces on sports figures.

Even worse is I am sure we will be made to watch another excruciatingly long video of these dorks playing make believe. It was Robin Hood, then a bunch of pirates, what’s this year going to be, Rudy? What if we just spent this time actually talking about business objectives, sales training, and product innovation?

This meeting is 200 people watching 2 people talk to each other who both think they are very funny and very interesting and smart. Did anyone think to ask themselves if there is a better way to use 198 other peoples time than talking about yourselves?
 




If anyone wonders why our stock is in the shitter, yesterday’s meeting is the prime example. I swear it’s like watching a bunch of monkeys be entertained by poking each others’ buttholes.

I left this company about 8 yrs ago. I was curious to see what’s new, maybe the culture changed? I know this board is full of people Monday morning QB’s, but I also believe where there is smoke, there’s fire.

All I can say, the more things change, the more they stay the same. Take it from a former dental implant vet, GET OUT. There are greener pastures and with this job market, you’d be a fool not to explore.

Look into aesthetics, or specialty pharma (no primary call points). Look into robotics in dental, software sales is another big one in the medical field. Or, grab a Corp sales gig that specializes on the DSO side.

Or, change industries. Now would be the perfect time. Get into B2B software SaaS sales. You may have to earn your stripes grabbing a shit gig for two years. Once you gain that experience, trust me, you’ll get paid more vs hanging around in dental.
