It will be very telling how they take of affected individuals

Every single employee will be having an eagle eye on how they will take care of those affected. Surely with the strength of GNE, they could put each individual in a new role or create a role. No reason in the world to let someone go, unless it isn’t by the employee’s choice.

How deep were the cuts?

I agree with so many others. There is no reason to cut anyone. Genentech needs to create new roles or find new positions for every employee. No one should be left behind.

Former DNAer here. This has been planned before launch. When I was at Genentech and they were building out the structure for this team I questioned the size of the organization. I was told by several in leadership they over hired on purpose for launch and would scale back 2 years after launch. The hope was that there would be another neuro product to move people over to. They will not create new jobs to protect people and they have known about this before the drug ever launched. In your new job search remember if your territory seems to small or that they have too many people be cautious and always keep looking for the next job. Companies care about the bottom line not people.

Exactly!

They just hired a handful of FRMs 3 months ago. Now they are in jeopardy. And the new position....Someone needs to get the award for “worst idea ever” to combine the FRM/CC roles. I don’t know a nurse at an account that has any desire or the aptitude to discuss billing/coding and yet we are using our nurses to roll that out. I really can’t imagine that any of the decent reimbursement folks would want this job. Embarrassing.

Please stop the madness!!

Hahahaha! I jump on CP every now and then. I was laid off in BioOnc, and I'm fine with it. Reading the last post about the FRM's and CC's. What a joke that is going to be. Who makes these crazy decisions??

there are people in USMA who are being told to wait 6-8 weeks before they will know if they have a job. Hearing this and all the other drawn out announcements makes me think GNE is doing this on purpose, wants people to opt to leave instead of getting a severance. Severances will get slimmer and slimmer. Sad to feel like a person and the company you love(d) looks at you as a number.

As a shareholder, I’m in favor of Genentech running lean. A very important metric is “revenue per employee”. Nothing personal, just business.
