That would explain a lot of the favorites that Kathy has acquired or promoted in the last 2 years. All you have to do is look for the Vistakon connection at B+L and you'll find it runs deeper than you think. Did she really think it was that important to take on these reps, pay them the $90k+ base to join B+L all in hopes of pushing more Besivance? That's about the dumbest idea ever. In addition it's unscrupulous to pilfer another companies reps and stick them in the same territory with the same customers. And by the way, how's that working for you, Kathy? Sales numbers sluggish, company in management hell, no respect from clients? Great idea...looks like you're just a lawsuit magnet.
 






Ahhhh...March 2009 is pretty recent. This was to get ramped up for the Besivance (formerly name "Optura") launch. Now this makes sense. It may be old news but I completely forgot about it!

I agree. Old news but most people don't connect the true meaning: Kathy is from Vistakon and started the national B+L hiring wave of favortism on the "friends of Kathy" plan. This has shaped the entire culture of B+L currently as many of the reps are keeping quiet about how they were brought over. This lawsuit may still be ongoing with penalties yet to come. It seems like B+L gets sued for millions every other year and has a history of losing each lawsuit.
 






Besivance sucks and is going to get squashed by BID Vigamox in February. And why should doctors even care about Besivance when there's Zymaxid already available and doing a better job getting on formulary? The small differences in efficacy don't warrant doctors to continually struggle to get Besi for their patients. Expect Alcon and Allergan to throw big speaker incentives to KOLs and watch their market share leave Besi further in the dust.

The whole idea of stealing top performing reps over from Vistakon just shows a new level of fail that management has brought to B+L.

Isn't Kobe from Vistakon? Isn't the newer LA manager from Vistakon? Who else at B+L is Vistakon?!

yEAh this is old news and it started with Jerry Ostrov who was head of the Vkon division for 8-9 years. He brought over a bunch of people who reported to him, mostly in the VC division.

The hope at that point was that with all the J&J infrastructure it would induce a buy by J&J. When it became very apparent J&J had no interest in this at all and in fact no offers were coming in, they tossed everyone out and brought in Fred for the fire sale. They have to limbo dance with the numbers as no one is willing to pull the trigger on this dog. They do have to keep it waxed up and looking viable though. Beware, it is a house of cards.

What difference does it make when both alcon and allergan has stopped promotion of their anti-infectives. Even when alcon comes out with their BID Vig they have left the market same with zymaxid. Wide open for B & L to promote Besi off label.
 






you are not going to capture the post op business. The other companies bundle surgical, equipment and pharma. Our divisions don't even talk to each other and our equipment is old hat. Crystalens lost a ton of share last couple of years and besi is not a very good choice for most surgeries. Formulation and formulary are the two biggest problems. They don't want a gooey drop on the eye post op, they don't need it, and the other products are infinitely better covered on formulary for low co pays and are available at the pharmacy. Besi will never capture a significant share ever and you will not be well compensated for all of your hard work. Anti-infective job is a night mare. Not to mention, when you get a win it has to be for a total switch of all of the products, very very few will ever convert just 1 product with no incentive especially the one that is the cash cow for Alcon. Getting a lotemax post op win is 1000% easier because the competition doesn't care if you take the generic pred. You all are doomed to failure no matter how many contacts you have.
