How much longer do you all think we will have jobs? I saw 1 Dr. yesterday and worked all day. They just had no time to talk at all. I am really needing to think of a new career--wife, 2 kids, mortgage, etc. It concerns me with access and Sunshine Act and cuts , etc. What do you all think?

Start looking for a new career. The hand writing is on the wall my friends. The pharmaceutical industry has been dramatically impacted and forever changed by the OIG as well as the overly aggressive state legislatures and AGs. The OIG continues to be more proactive and draconian in it's enforcement activities. They are actively seeking debarment of several companies from participating federal reimbursement. Now the states are now piling on by restricting access and "gifts to physicians as well as suing pharma companies to recoup excessive costs associated with state funded health care programs...medicaid/medicare etc. Most institutions and group practices are follwoing suit with restrictions on access to their faculty and staff as well as their participation pharma sponsored activities. With all this, most companies are beginning to rethink their apporach to business...namely sales reps are now viewed as a liability, not an asset. I think they will move to more web based approaches for physician outreach, marketing and education. I am outta here!

well take that fucking moron lamar with you. what a jackass loser who has the personality of a gnat. he can also take that 4 ft midget mb with him and his guido suits. looomaar needs to be working as a walmart greeter

Poster could not be any more dead on. The industry is in a tailspin and has been for years. They have no solution for how to handle the restricted access, generic intrusion, patent cliff expirations, and MD's view of industry. Sorry folks I have seen this come full cirlce. The pendulum is not swinging back and sales will be the first targeted. There are smarter, more cost effective ways to do business which include web media. Just speaking the truth!

right on--there is no answer to the restricted access in spite of what managers will tell you. Their "clever" success stories--all lies. Dr.'s don't care. They have to see more and more patients daily, and they have no time for reps. I realize there is no answer. With Zyprexa going generic soon, we are in bigger trouble than we are with only one generic. I had a dr. tell me yesterday the patient called telling him abilify was over $700 a month. He switched him to generic--I wonder why.

you guys are really a bunch of pussies. get a life.

bunch of pussies? ? ? I think not. It's reality. Who in the heck are you?

I don't think any of us who posted on this thread are a bunch of pussies. It's a reality. the job IS almost over. They don't need 75% of us. There's little business in primary care, and psychs don't have time for us and know about the drug. I've been marketing it for 8 years. They ask for new information, and there's none. It is almost over. Be prepared. Get plan b.

The democrats, AMA, and anti-pharma lobbying groups will continue to do everything in their power to diminish our roles and make us obsolete. The writing has been on the wall for a while now and has only been expedited by Obamacare. Many big pharma companies sided with democratic politicians and their aides & helped them write the new healthcare law knowing full well the ultimate outcome. Save as much $ as you can and pay off your debts as soon as you can. The ride is going to get real rocky.

I agree--managers are NOT safe either. We are all in for a very bumpy ride. I need to think of a different career as this one isn't going to last. I think our days are very much numbered and as you stated, our roles--as we know them--will be obsolete sooner than most of us are willing to admit.

Guys your posts are all on the mark. I have been at this for 5 years, and it is already old fast. I thought I hit the lottery when I got this gig, but the fact is nobody wants to see us, we are not needed. I had a similar story to the one of the patient who complained about the cost of Abilify. I had an MD tell me he is tired of jumping through hoops to get this product and fed up with his patients complaining about the cost. Risperidone is quick and easy was his response.

I agree with all you said. I've been at this for 8 years. Dr.'s are tired of it. They don't care. They have a horrible attitude for the most part, and the drug is old. They don't want to jump thru hoops. I will ride this out. Generic Zyprexa and Geodon are coming out soon--more troubles for us. Risperidone is eating all of our lunches right now. Medicaid is pushing back now too.

You couldn't be anymore on the mark. It's tough enough now with risperidone, when Zyprexa and and Geodon are generic, consider it game over. Seriously, we need to find an escape plan otherwise we will be shown the door.
