A few years ago, I worked for Exeltis as a dermatology rep. Unfortunately, I was downsized. For years, I struggled with trying to cope with the trauma. I dealt with my pain by over eating and then I switched to not eating. This led me to over exercising. I tried meditation, yoga and breathing.
Nothing worked...until I found music therapy!
My first therapy session utilized Taylor Swift's "shake it off". Once I made the connection that a "playa goin play, play, play" I was then able to "shake it off, shake it off". This helped my frustrations of the downsizing!
My second therapy session focused on Smash Mouth's All Star". This song inspired me to look in the mirror and say to myself "Hey now, you're a rock star, get the show on, get paid". That session motivated me to perform at a higher level.
My third music session helped me reach the summit by embracing "Ain't no mountain high enough" My vocally talented therapist used this to say "if you need me, call me, no matter where you are, no matter how far, just call my name and Ill hurry"! This really helped give me a sense of connection.
My question: does Exeltis offer music therapy for former downsized employees? I still have some lingering ptsd and could use a few more sessions and they are $$$.
Please provide feedback asap. I don't want to go into relapse. Also, be kind and give only serious feedback.
