I just wanted to ask if Smith and Nephew is a good company for an engineer to join in Memphis, is there any growth potential, are future prospects good? please advise

10 years ago it was a dream for us. Asking for ideas, R and D was great. Now it's the exact opposite. We all feel like we are nothing more then factory line workers now. Gone are the days of innovation and expression of ideas. Silence is key to hopefully not be laid off if those happen again. I lost my passion working here. Hope that helps.
 


















Let me share some recent examples of engineers who worked for S&n in Memphis:
One guy took a job, was laid off 6-8 months later... Not due to performance by him, but by the company deciding to downsize. That means the hiring manager had no clue what condition the business was in...
Then there are the Visionaire engineers. Ask the recruiter/hr moron about them. They over worked a bunch of them until they all burned out and wanted to quit. Then S&N said you can't quit on us we'll fire you, then they made up a lawsuit against them to keep them finding work elsewhere in the industry. That was the tipping point for S&N in Memphis. All senior management was dismissed 6 mo. after that and Andover has run the show ever since.
 






Doing research on a company by asking a forum like Cafe Pharma what they think about the company Is the definition of stupidity. The only people on these sites are generally malcontents who feel like everything should be given to them as their God given right or people who have been let go for a variety of reasons and are angry or competitor posers. Check legitimate sources about a company not on a site like this.
 






So there is your answer. All posts were negative about the company, except one and the person that defended the multi national corporation called you stupid... I think your questions have been answered.
 












Smith & Nephew use to be a great company. There are annual layoffs and change in management every five years. They will fire the leaders and say they are too top heavy. Then in a year re-hire more folks with more pay and even larger job titles. Many chiefs not enough Indians. They fire employees and will hire contractors making four to ten times more than the employee that they let go. They also made hiring promises then they do not fulfill them. Pension and retiree medical are gone. The manufacturing folks are not happy, the corporate folks are not happy. We may receive bonuses but we do not receive any matrices anymore.

Newer visionaire team and manufacturing folks getting ready to walk also. Lots of talking and many have secured job opportunities. Just waiting for the right time. Get ready for more back orders.
 


















I sold Oasis for many years and also worked at Healthpoint. I just left and it was the best thing that could have happened to myself and my family. Smith and Nephew will NEVER be the same. I know everyone is just sticking around until they find a new job. It is a great feeling when you finally leave and say to yourself, why did I stray so long!

Or you can just look on the S&N website to see all the competitive studies/RCT's etc that they use as claims of references to their own products when they are just being deceitful and stealing information from competitors to make it appear as their own. I don't blame the reps. I am friends with some of you. But for the leaders to be so unethical is disgusting. Karma is a bitch.

Worked for SN for 10 years. Never have worked for such a "wannabe" group of liars in my life.
