Or has this place gone to new lows in bad management? I know we are lucky to have a job with all the other companies doing layoffs but I feel the politics in corp have gone to next level s#$@. Even if you want to just focus on the work you can’t because some loser who doesn’t have enough to do wants to reinvent the wheel.

Nope It's everyone. Those dudes from McKinsey and their dumbest boss have never delivered a drug and now they will ensure that AbbVie doesn't do either. There are still opportunities outside for the right people. Go get them while you can...

It's everyone. I think those dudes from McKinsey who have never delivered a drug and their dumb ass boss will ensure that AbbVie never delivers one.
 






B and C players run AbbVie. They have been able to thrive thanks to Humira. People who never should have been leaders have ascended. If by chance an A player shows up, the hoards of Bs and Cs drive them out. As for McKinsey, they had to try to do something to help that useless R&D leadership team. It’s beyond fixable - they should all be shown the door.

As someone who has seen the reports that McKinsey has provided, it is clear that they know nothing of the markets and only endorse common sense conclusions that dont deserve their astronomical bill. I have NEVER read anything from them that was insightful or earth shattering. Yet every company feels a need to get the McKinsey endorsement

As far as management goes. Go read EVERY company job board on CP. EVERY - SINGLE - ONE. They ALL have post about poor and useless leadership from some disgruntled employee. YOU are NOT unique and EVERY company has someone like you there

Well there you go - clearly a nerve has been struck. R&D leadership is on cafepharma instead doing something useful. Get off the internet and go do some work - this is the issue, useless leaders.

Right bad leadership is temporary because eventually good companies find their way. All companies go thru these phases as AbbVie is experiencing now but it will pass. And that’s why message boards like this exist, so that a perspective can be formed at a moment in time by the folks who raise the red flag. And to the OP it’s not just you. Very common perspective now.

It’s not just you. It’s everyone but a lucky few that get to call the shots. That’s the way it is and will always be. Suck it up or just quit - it will never change.

It’s not McKinsey. And it is true scientists deliver drugs but to be honest what are the thousands of scientists delivering at AbbVie? Seriously, there are 1000s of Discovery scientists what have they discovered that is fueling the pipeline today. With the new Discovery head who is truly an imbecile, AbbVie ensured that the fancy science experiments will continue and the organic pipeline will remain dry.

The issue at AbbVie is the management. For that matter, McKinsey is only doing the job management paid them to do. Management is weak, petty, liars and yes sycophants. To rise at AbbVie, you need to kiss butt to whoever is in charge, kick down others but never actually produce a drug. The amount of money being spent in R&D is a true waste. Go read the RDLT bios on the website, it tells you all you need to know about the quality of this group.
