Is It Always the Reps at Fault?

They are micromanaging us out. We all have 6 weeks left to get the numbers up. If you think this is going to happen in 8 weeks when they haven't changed the strategy, you are sadly mistaken. Maybe Marketing and can roundtable us another piece to detail off of? Will that work? Or, just maybe they dump the entire Management team (the head on down) and refocus on the right way to run a business? No chance of that because the biggest one is on the board now. Open your eyes and see the hand writing on the wall. don't be fooled

Of course it's the reps fault.... what the hell is wrong with you? Management spent months dreaming up detail strategies and pieces that were guaranteed not to fail. Management, as you must also know, is infallible. Any failure must then be due to crappy reps that are just not following the plan. Man-up (or Woman-up) and get with the program.

Months? More like seconds. There is no strategy for detailing. We hire ZS who develops a call plan. ZS prints some geographies and slides and we are given the details. It doesnt take any skill to write a check to zs.

Well, if I am in the field 9-5, seeing doc's, nurses, Phys Assists, NP's, Pharmacists, Office Managers, and anyone else that will listen, and I can't get them to change their approach or opinion with everything I know, and have been given to use, who's fault is it then? Perhaps, that answer is right in your mirror every morning. Or lets look at it this way, you can choose to be the change maker or wait for change. There are tons of crap companies and products that cost more then ours and those reps are getting it done. Why can't you? Are you tired, got too much on your plate, been doing this too long, not used to stress like this, usually had a partner you could blame in the past? Maybe you should quit and take all your great skills and underappreciated business knowledge to another company, no, that won't happen and you know why? Because you really aren't that good anyway and wouldn't get hired, or in six months, you'll be on that board crying the same story. Sorry, but if its really that bad, make a change or change it.

Y'gotta wonder when a large proportion of your sales team feels that management is not holding up their side of the business effort. How committed is management and the Board when they just got outrageous bonuses and perks, without any improvement in the business? Us guys and gals down in the trenches would have been far more impressed with management if they had forgone the bonuses/perks and just put together a cogent sales/detail plan.... without the BS and unrealistic goals/objectives. The rewards could have flowed later, just like what we have to do. when improvement in the business occurs.

It's bad... and maybe I'll do what you suggest... and find another job.

I suppose you could offer illegal kickbacks to the docs, etc., or other "creative ways" to effect change, but I wouldn't advise it unless you don't value your freedom. The point here at TherRx is that it is difficult to sell off poorly devised materials given us to use... and we are not given the liberty to devise our own sales plan and materials (no company allows this). So, if the sell materials, management committment to success, is not there, it is near impossible to be successful. Sounds to me, based on your post, that you spend your day "busy as a bee" but how effective are you at selling product based on the materials given to you by management to use?
