Is Anyone working more than 10-2 these days?

I am picking up mulch in the company car, trunk is full and tied open! Don't want termites and dirt in my own vehicle after all. Gonna spread the mulch and get my drink on poolside baby!

Being hired with Merck is like an IRS audit. I went through ten weeks of intensive training that included daily testing, verbal practicums and 10-12 hr days of studying and a constant threat of being sent home (I've seen it and people break down from the stress). I've been at 7 am grand rounds, made calls all day came home, changed my shirt and then went to an evening speaker program to finally return home around 11pm. I've worked conventions and gone to Merck meetings on week-ends. Spent my week-end on policy tests or a home office cubicle generated spread sheet, that my manager demanded yet never read. I've endured field visits from poorly trained tryanical managers who made my life miserable. It takes about 120 seconds on the phone for Merck (without cause) to lay you off. Is the pay good? Yeah it's (seriously) OK. Was it all worth it and would I do it all again ? No.

^^^^^^ Agree with what you said ^^^^^

I remember how hard I busted my ass to get a pharm job. I actually thought at one time that I would retire with Merck and would work hard and enjoy the fruits of my labor. Was I wrong!

It's true *most* of the CTLs here are garbage. Hardly any have made me better and most are scared they are going to lose their jobs and their under water mortgages are at stake!. Besides who cares this isn't sales it's high powered marketing! The only people that truly believe this job isnt a farce are the 'farmer Ted' like goons who can't get and won't get a high-paying job ever again!

Getting a job in pharma, let alone Merck, was the biggest mistake of my life. Just hoping and praying I get another gig because I have to admit there aren't too many six figure jobs in this crappy economy!

I did all of what you said and would even wave a Merck flag if there is one. In the end they PIP'ed me out. The only saving grace is I was able to take an early retirement with a decent lump sum.

I sleep till 11 everyday, make calls from 12-3, 3 days a week M,W,F, and 1-4 on T,TH.

Only deviation from above schedule is up by 8:20 every other Tues for district teleconferences held by district manager business manager customer team leader or whatever we call him now. Usually lasts 1 hr which gives me time to mow the grass on my rider while listening on nice head phones I won back in 1995 during launch of cozaar/hyzaar.

Always home by 4:15 which allows me ride to clubhouse on my golf cart to keep my daily tee time at 4:30 with 'tha boys.' Course in great shape this yr - new mini-verda greens really came in nice - bermuda fairways just turned too - awesome club beverage cart driver home from college for summer too!

Best job I've ever had.

Gads I miss pharma. The no work, line your pockets kind of job. I would do a lunch, glad hand the staff then go home to do what eva! I retired after 28 years; the last 16 were a cake walk. Glad to see things have not changed!

No,but I am working 11-3pm. I'm including my workout too. Such a silly career. I'm am starting to feel guilty about doing absolutely nothing. I feel better when I see other reps from companies at the gym.
