Is anyone finding time savings with Quill?

Has anyone seen the VCARE manipulator being used? My docs have been asking about it but I am not familiar with it enough to recommend or call the rep.

Call the rep. VCare is a good product. Beats the hell out of Rumi... Surprised you are not familiar with Vcare?? If you don't know rep info, I can assist.

The Quill material gyn surgeons use for vaginal cuff, myomectomy, & sacrocolpopexy closure is chemically equivalent to a PDS suture. It is absorbable in essentially 90 - 180 days, therefore there should be no issue with pregnancy. Quill is being used in high tension wound closures, like total knee arthroplasty. There is no individual stress points, as there is with knotted interupted suture. This allows the tension to be distributed evenly across the wound. Most importantly, the time savings are significant, as it is cutting most closure times in 1/2.

Lapra-ty's come in packs of 5, with a cost between $40-$80 a pack. One Quill is all that is needed for any of the above procedures. The cost savings are significant, especially when you average in OR per minute time cost.

Multiple studies have been performed in the specialty of gynecology. They are easy to find.

lapra tye is only indicated for 2 and 3 o vicryl ,it is off label used any other way . Vcare is for rookies. It falls out and is limited in sizes . THE BEST AND SAFEST IS THE RUMI . . You need to take your time up front putting it in and it will make your cases go so smooth . The uterines are up and away and you can get a great colpotomy.
Side docking is the best alternative to the issue of the length of the rumi handle.

Actually all my surgeons are using the VLOCK suture from Covidien...they love it and it saves us a lot of time and hassle. Havent seen the Quill used....my surgeons moved away from lapra ties

My GYNs were on Quill for a little while but absolutely love the V-Loc that Covidien came out with! I think Quill may have gone out of business??? Regardless, the vloc has been great- I work together with the cov rep, try it
