iPad

This is not about loafing. We do not have an 8-5 style job. If you aren't working it will be evident to your mgr in many ways. This is about not having to justify every minute of every day to some report reading Area Director. Is the GPS going to tell them when I'm reading email @ 9 pm on a Tuesday or looking at iAlert on a Sunday afternoon? Nope. And you can bet if we head down the "what were you doing at 2:30" road, work outside of 8-5 will stop.

You're right we don't have a 8-5 job. We have an 11am to 2pm job. Counting drive time and a lunch. You have nothing to worry about if you and your DM are buds or shopping partners. But, when these guys are in their office every Fri or whenever will check up on when you're entering calls, etc. It's ashame that we have to be tracked but every DM,RBD knows we don't have enough to do so they're going to make us stay out in the field even if we are sitting at a Barnes and Noble or working out at 3pm till 5pm at Xport Gym in Chicago or the suburban Xport's. Xport gym is like a pharma convention at 3pm. Every company under the sun is representing.

Maybe you work 11 to 2 if so you're part of the problem. I'm sick of hearing that myth that all reps work three hours a day. But even if they did if they see their docs and move business then their job is done. I work an average of 50 hours a week. If you work 11 to 2 you need the tracker. Not me.

I think I touched a nerve. I would bet the farm, you're the person who scams the system by pretending you work 50 hours a week when in fact you're at the gym, shopping, going out with other pharma friends during the work day. That's not work. Every district has them. I work so hard and have no family time. Come on. The over acting is embarrassing. If you work 50 hours a week you should be fired for having terrible time management skills.

The only thing you touched on is an age old cliche. It is the same view held by each & every big pharma person brought in here over the last few years. Go back from where you came.

Astellas is big pharma. That's the point. All your leaders came from big pharma and now are instilling that atmosphere here. See you at Xport Fitness in Arlington Heights,IL.

Hey dipshit,
the iPad automatically synchs every 15 minutes, so the iPad perpetually tracks its location. Only the iPhone can be adjusted, turn off the auto locator.

wrong. airplane mode disables all the radios. ipad has 3 radios: wife, 3g, and the gps radio. for syncing, most companies prefer you use wife because of the cost of dataa over 3G. Company is paying the bill for 3g usage, but the wife provider (usually your own home network pays the wifi. wifi is less exepsnive, even if the cmpany is paying your wifi bill.

secondly, you can also turn the thing off totally.

also, for ANY app that is using the gps radio, there will be a colored checkmark next to the app name. Click on the location services area to see which apps have a "location" function. you CAN disable the function for each app, but if you leave it on, you can easily check to see if the app has been gathering your location data.

as for being tracked, there are matters of employee privacy, so they'd have to notify you that you are being monitored, UNLESS you are coluntarily providing the info.

so, if they ask "why is your gps off", then you'll know you're being tracked for sure.

LOLOLOL:...sorry i meant WIFI...not WIFE. but thats funny to think it had WIFE tracking abilities. Carry on.

I got a phone call from corporate today and they asked me why my iPad was not used for the last several weeks. I told them it was. They said that they have no record of it. Shit, that means I am getting tracked!

Check your SOPs -- disabling is grounds for termination.

Additionally, giving true, honest, professional feedback to your manager, reporting your manager for harrassment, engaging in healthy discussions with customers vs. giving the "canned" sales line, having a bad sales year despite many years of success, and possessing several years of industry experience are ALSO grounds for termination!

Ladies and Gentlemen

Simple and effective solution here.

Place the unit in a Mylar bag, one of those silver bags computer components come it.

It is basically a portable Faraday cage, which will block cellular and GPS signals. Put an ipad or cell phone in one and peek inside, bars will drop to zero.

Unit will stay on with radios and power on.... just no signal either way.

".... Gee boss there must be something wrong with the satellites and cell towers...."
