Intuniv causes sleepiness

No it's not selling. Guanfacine (Tenex) has been around for many years- it's a blood pressure med (alpha 2A receptor agonist). Child psychiatrists have used it for a long time to induce sleep as well as an anxiolytic & adjunct to stimulant therapy for ADHD. Ask your child's doctor if a low dose generic would be a better option. Don't let the Shire reps unduly influence your child's physician by having he/she prescribe an unnecessary high cost medication!
 






Intuniv has worked for ADHD but my son gets extremely tired everyday after school. The physician suggested switching his medication schedule from the morning to the afternoon or evening. Do you think that will work or will it cause more problems.

Prior to taking this drug, the physician warned me that it will treat ADHD /Autism but be aware of your child getting tired. I would love this drug without the tired side effects. Do you have any suggestions on another drug that would work the same but not casue my son to dose off. He is on the 2mg tablet and he is 53 lbs, 6.5 years old.

I knew I would elicit a response. I don't sell Kapvay. I do know several child psychiatrists who have banned Shire reps from their offices. Keep trying to peddle that crappy Intuniv.

Really? Why are you even posting on here at 1:35 in the afternoon. Oh, you must have a grude or something - why do you even care if Shire reps are banned if you don't even sell ADHD meds - how about GET A LIFE! Or did you previously sell ADHD meds??? hmmmmmm
 












Maybe try swtiching the time of day....Intuniv has adequate efficacy regardless of time of day dosing. Am or pm. 4-6pm dosing window seems to be a nice time of day to dose. Please do not let these people on here sway your own experience with a medication. ADHD is a disease state that's medication regimen should be customized to meet an individual's needs. Unfortunately, there is no one size fits all to treat every patient!!!
 












what are the side effects of kavpay... does it cause ticks or non eating/weight loss.. i can not handle that. intuniv is making me sleep like.. 18 hours of the day.. during school too... which kinda sucks
