Interviewing with Valleylab division

Hi- I am currently interviewing with covidien for a position in their Valleylab division (electrosurgery) and was wondering if anyone could give me any information on quality of life issues like vacation time, holidays, and general work environment. I feel that it is too early in the interview process to bring this up yet, and as I would be leaving a pretty good position I would like to hear from some reps how they feel about this.

Thanks for any info!

You will not only be selling electrosurgery but also Ligasure. The culture of the compaany has definitely changed since Valleylab became covidien. It's all about keeping wall street happy now which means higher quotas. Be prepared to do whatever it takes to meet your quota (and exceed it - we were told than anything below 114% was considered substandard performance and would be considered as such) including doing cases on weekends and nights. There are dinner programs, taking docs to courses etc. You are not required to wear a pager but you have a blackberry which might as well be the same thing. You have 3 weeks vacation but this is a very high stress job and you will have a very difficult time taking a long vacation and diong well at this job.

Don't listen to the haters, EbD is a good gig, excellent QOL. The only time you'll be working nights or weekends is during evaluations or when you're training a new surgeon. Dinner programs are rare these days, mostly due to restrictions on expenses. Ligasure is the best vessel sealer on the market, hands down, and is a lot of fun to sell. Strong positions on just about every GPO.

That said, growth is slowing a bit and the competitive landscape is changing every year, but that's true of just about any device job. Management has no legitimate answer for business lost to robotics or reprocessing. I would expec some territories to be better than others in this respect, so be sure to ask.

Good luck!

Your a loser if you accept a job with COV EBD.
The money train has come and gone. Every hospital has already purchased Triads and Ligasure years ago. Zero growth and zero pay! What idiots!!!

C. Moritz was canned from EBD.
Now he is a manager at Target! This is true, if you don't believe me go on Linkedin and see for yourself.

This is what happens when you disrespect everyone! You get blackballed from the industry and then find a job making 1/2 pay working for Target!

Remember your book Inside the Tornado Corey? Well, your inside your own Tornado!

Couldn't be a more appropriate correction to the world we live in.
Hi welcome to Target, thanks for shopping with us.....

Enjoyed the previous post re: Corey "Go Big" Moritz.

However, after a quick glance at his LinkedIn profile, I wanted to correct an inaccuracy. Target Corporation, a world class organization, is way too good for a buffoon like Moritz.

Instead he is with "Target Training", a snake-oil firm that uses psycho-mumbo jumbo Likert scales to supposedly identify the right candidates for an organization. He pushed that hard when he was with Covidien.

Back then, we wondered, since he pimped it the way he did, if he had a stake in the company.

Have fun, Corey, selling your personality profile tests.....and, don't forget....Go Big!

(Aren't you first required to have a personality, if you are claiming to be an expert on them??)
