Interviewing with Cubist

I'm interviewing with Cubist this week. What are the pros and cons for working here? Serious answers only please.

If you are unemployed... GO FOR IT!!! :)

If you are employed and make at least 80% of what Cubist is promising... RUN FROM IT!
:-0

That is a serious answer. Just talk to ANY of the folks who have vacated recently (ie, within the past 2 years). It's a bad culture, getting worse.

If you are unemployed, definitely go for it. There are a lot of pros and cons. There have been a lot of things going on for last several months/year that have made many people leave the company and have left those of us here questioning ourselves. However, I still believe that it is still a good company and a lot better than many of the other pharma companies out there, especially big pharma. It's just not what it used to be. I have heard horror stories about other pharma companies so that it why I am still here. I am hopeful that things will get better, but in this industry it's a gamble. A lot depends on you manager too. If you have a good manager, it's not so bad. There are still a lot of good people who work here. Upper management has been blinded to the changes in our industry and have not been in the field themselves in years. We have great medications, it's just all the admin stuff that we are drowning in. I hope that helps. Bottom line, pros: good company, good pipeline, I think the pay is good but could be better (try to get a good base b/c it doesn't look like they will ever raise commission even as they add meds to our bag), flexibility. Cons: bad choices in hiring some upper management, crazy admin tasks to justify other people jobs, no bump in commissions, your manager can make or break you. Good luck to you!

Its always that way, with the manager making or breaking you.
Problem in pharma. is that management is alwasy moving around, so the manager you interview with is not going to be your manager in six months. that is where the friction starts. best move is to take on more responsibility within your current role, so you can grow your resume and look better to future employers. So, when the manager you love moves to the other side of the country and is replaced by a dickhead, then you can have that resume ready, looking good, and find another manager....

pharma. is totally a silly industry, isn't it?

This place sucks stay away!!!

No, it doesn't suck here. Like every place, there are a few spoiled brats and babies for sales reps, but they usually leave. I think this is a good place to be.

trust me... it sucks...

It's a good place to be if you dont mind taking an entire shaft and balls in your ass insead of a decent bonus payout. Cubist used to be great, now we're big pharma. Welcome to the shit show...

If it's so great here why is every quality rep interviewing and/or leaving???

Of course you like it here all rich over paid Managers/Executives like it here and unfortunately they NEVER leave and that's one of the problems. They cash stock, make stupid management decisions, but they never leave...heck most of them never go home because even their families can't stand them.

Fixing the bonus program for Cubist is easy and they will do it, fixing the issue of a product with not place in the market for The Medicines Company is not. Get it?

It truly sucks here. The launch of our new antibiotic has been a disaster. Our leadership totally stinks like the worst fart you ever ran into. Overworked! underpaid! Greedy bastards at the top have totally devastated this once fine Company! It will take a miracle and the end of the GS era to save things!

The drug is great! Marketing sucks! Things won't change without a miracle and the end of the GS era at Cubist!
