Interviewing OBU New Jersey

I am considering interviewing for positions in New Jersey. Blue or Orange. What are the differences and any idea on salary? I currently have 6 years exp in the oncology field.

Thank you for your imput on this.

Can only comment on the OBU Blue. That team sells Neulasta and Vectibix (Panitumumab). Both of these products are considered leaders in their respective business unit. Great territory in North Jersey, good access and great coverage. Salary is good usually starting at 140-150K with a year of Oncology experience. Car and 401K are considered best in the industry.

I know this manager. He is a great guy who has years with Amgen in bone health. Great guy to work for and always is supporting his reps. Lots of experience and knows the North Jersey market. As far as salary, most reps are at 140 to 160 k plus bonus. If you are good you can make an additional 30 to 40 k in bonus. Amgen has a good 401k similar to the NFL and they have two manditory weeks of shutdown for Christmas and the Fouth of July.

I know reps there at 140-170k depending on experience 140k with more than one year pharma experience. Blue reps selling Neulasta, and Vectibix. Orange reps selling Xgeva and Nplate
Lots of contracts. The manger CE is one of their best managers. His reps like him and he promotes from within.

That territory is right outside of NYC. High profile oncology groups competing with NYC oncology practices. Would have to be very competitive salary starting at 150 base. I have a few friends who work in headquarters in Thousand Oaks, they really like the two week paid shutdown.

The OBU manager in New Jersey is good. He has been with the company a long time and does not micromanage. If you get your numbers and complete expenses on time you can move up fast and get into the leadership development program. The RD is new but I'm hearing good things.

what are the odds of getting the position with no oncology sales experience and no hospital experience?

I was a highly ranked primary care rep for 2.5 years

Currently a highly ranked buy and bill rep for immunology for 1 year

I meet the basic qualifications and some of the preferred qualifications. I know it’s a long shot but just wanted to see how much of a long shot it is

im interested in an orange team position outside of New Jersey.

I have no oncology experience and no hospital experience.

I was a highly ranked primary care rep for a few years and a highly ranked immunology rep for one year.

I know it’s a long shot but I just wanted to see how long of a shot it is....

Not sure. I was a blue rep and not sure what the manager in that area is looking for. If you work well in teams Amgen might be a good place for you. I have heard that they are also looking for reps who have experience selling biosimilars.

Clarification on managers:

The OBU has the managers covering NJ

Philly- Good Manager loyal with her team
Princeton- New Manager, Inexperienced in Management, unorganized and poor communication skills
Tri State/North- Good manager, Works well with his team, fun to work for.

Hope this helps. Also, It would help if you had experience in liquid and solid tumor.

I am looking for any information on the Clinical Oncology Specialist position in NJ. Is this a position interacting with the reps or do they operate independently?
Does this position just call on the academics institutions?
I have clinical experience at MSK, MD Andersen and Penn.and have been told that this position could be a good fit for someone who is trying to make the transition into the industry.
Any information on this position would be greatly appreciated.

This is NOT an entry level job into the industry. These roles are for clinical specialists with experience.

Could be loaded with HR issues. Sounds like there has been some change in leadership? Not sure but reading between the lines it sounds like more changes could be in the future here.

Looks like they are posting for MM reps.

Ask for 170k. You are definitely taking all the risk so you should be compensated for the risk you are taking.

This is a good place to start if you have no or limited oncology experience. Currently there is a lot of turnover and a new team is being carefully selected for realignment and exceptional execution. Manager is good and is looking for additional team members to create a new and exciting culture.

Currently looking for :
Top Producers
Metric driven sales experience
Ability to gain access in key high profile accounts.
Ability to exceed reach and frequency metrics.
Experienced with working in teams.

2-Positions open in Toms River/Atlantic City/Newark NJ

If you don’t have previous relationships, you won’t be able to sell in onc. Access is bad and no relationships means no acess

I have seen that this position has been posted for over a month now?
Does anyone know of red flags here?
Currently working at a major oncology player but I/m looking for a change. Does anyone have a better idea of salary and bonus structure here? I have heard from others that AMGEN does not pay very well. Is this true?
