Interviewing and serious

On my 3rd round of interviewing. What is the real lowdown? Money, opportunity, growth and new Products that are coming out? I can't really judge all of the previous posting as they are apparently laying off some of the dead weight and reorganizing. What is training like? Money for consultants? I have been in device for 6 years, just looking to get off the 24 hour pager and get a quality of life back. Thanks for your responses. I'm pretty sure my offer will be here by the end of the week. So far, base of 85k plus com, car, lap, cell, expenses.

I do not know the current company standings.....made the jump from drvice to this company few years back. This is NOT device like in any way shape or form. From the top down it is a PHARMA ran deal. They do not treat the product like a device and therefore, it is preceived as a script deal. As far as money....if you base at 85....good luck hitting 140. Never going to happen. apligraf is 10+ years old.....no real data to push forward.
Do not make the mistake I did. Not device, does not understand our world, never will.

Good luck.

You are just a rookie to this company. To new to see through the smoke and mirrors. I would love for you to look in mirror in two years and repeat your pride for working for OI. Look at the turnover ratio of the 2-3 year employees. You will see.

I am interviewing as well. Is this not a good company to work for all BS aside. I am in Pharma now with Lilly and hate them like no other. Is this going to be the same?

That is quite true....veterans are leaving because they are not in the "OI circle" and have maxed their income opportunity. Quite frankly they are fed up with the company. The ones that are gettting fired are predominantly pharma reps who can't cut this so called device company. For the majority this is a 2 year gig if you can stick it out.

IF OI LAST TWO MORE YEARS?

Has anyone gotten updates on interviews?
I submitted my resume but was told Human Resources was on vacation but then told they are hiring before year's end? Has anyone else heard this?

Got a friend in Boston. That friend said that they post jobs to "show" growth, interview and really drag for months to a year to hire....if they ever do.
Looks like they like to "appear" to be growing, but nobody gets hired. How long has this post been going??
Again, this was just corp gossip i heard over a few drinks.

Are there any straightforward responders from OI out there . . .
I am in the process of info gathering and talking with Floodgate.
My understanding is that OI is an amazing company.
They just hired a new VP of Sales in August/September 2010 and are in the process of getting their Directors for the company in place-- one for the East, one Central, and one for the West-- they will report directly to the VP of Sales who then reports to the CEO. My understanding is that they are changing the structure and are indeed expanding the sales force to ~150. Also understanding that this position (TRS) lends itself to be a great combination of pharma and device sales rolled into one-- without the need to be on a beeper to be called at will day or night-- ie: more of an assigned account position with planned visits, surgeries for product application-- as opposed to pure cold-calling in pharma.
Is this accurate or way off base? Why is there such as issue around longevity? And how is it that a company that is in the process of an expansion ie: increasing sales positions and building out to a 250,000sf facility-- have so much negative posting regarding losses, debt, unhappiness, etc. Would love some direct, straight-forward talk from someone who has been there and really understands the company and what is happening. Thanks!

Maybe there are sooooo many post here is because people are unhappy. This product has been on the market for 10+ years and nothing new. Oh, wait....need look for the same old studies, and video.
People are frustrated because more and more it seems like everything out of management is spin, spin and more spin.
This is a good place to get out of Pharma. However, this is NOTHING like a real device gig. Those who actually have device experience know that. This group is managed by all former Pharma.
As far as expansion....DG has 80 reps and sold 12000 last month. Ouch.
Ever think it isn't the amount of people in the field, but maybe the actual message?
Now the question remains....do we look at those sales as what they are....dollar for dollar sales or do we break it down in some spin and fuzzy math and say it is only "x" amount of patients?

This is a good company with good people. I like it here, we are treated well. Don't listen to the negatives. There is always 1 in the room-who nobody likes-and nobody pays attention to or can stand being around. How does a NSM in the Bahamas sound to you.?
