Interview Process

I'm going to be interviewing for a Sales Director position. I wanted to ask for any helpful information regarding the interview process. Questions asked? What the four interviewers are looking for? etc.

Seems like a great company!! Everyone I've talked to so far has been extremely polite, alot of enthusiasm.

Any help would be appreciated.

First off the Sales Director title is total nonsense as you will not be directing or managing anyone's efforts other than your own. Caris / Miraca calls their reps Sales Directors and their DMs regional VPs. The title inflation supposedly makes up for the fact that you will be working for a 3rd rate company.

In terms of the interview process forget STARs the industry standard for companies that spend money on developing their management teams. The hiring sales manager most likely will have zero training in interviewing so feel free to use anecdotes when talking about how great you are. Get the manager talking about themself and just smile. When they are finished tell them how great they and the company are and how much you want to lick their boot and work for them. You'll be fine.

The company headquarters building is nice and the HR staff that I spoke with when I interviewed there were knowledgeable. Sales VP on the other hand was a complete idiot. This was his first lab job and the moron did not even know that Lung, Breast, amd Colon cancer biopsies outnumbered -- by far -- GI biopsies. This joker was dismissive of any background other than GI and Uro -- the 2 lowest comodity plays. Any company where low brows like him (ignorance is blioss I guess) are placed in management positons is doomed.

Excellent assessment of this company and its leaders. The bulk of the revenue comes from GI biopsies, the specialties they are trying to drive are gi, derm and uro. Nothing else matters as an applicant from an experience point unless you are in violation of a noncompete
