interview - diagnostic tests / capital equipment

I have an upcoming interview with Idexx as a sales rep selling in clinic diagnostic tests and capital equipment to vets. I have many years experience on the human medical device side of the industry, so this is a new environment. Can you tell me more about the job, company culture, realistic income. Also, coming from the human medical side, if I switch to vet sales, will I then be "hurting" my chances of returning to human medical in the future? Any input is much appreciated! Thanks!

Idexx is a great company; where is the opening? Chances are you will be selling equipment, OR diagnostic testing, not both. You determine the income, but a successful rep will earn btwn 120-160K. If you're worried about returning to the human side...stay there.

I do want to say that the interview process with IDEXX was the worst I have ever encountered, if the interview is this hard and grueling, what must the job be like???? I have to ask myself? The sales simulation is not EVER going to show the hiring managers what one is really like out in the field IT IS IMPOSSIBLE to see how a sales person really does their thing, while the interviewing manager is sitting there making you feel sooooooooooo uncomfortable it was AWFUL !!

I would stay away from working here. The work/life balance sucks and it's not worth it for the pay. They pretty much own you once you start working and the job just never ends, even on weekends. DPC's don't get paid on consumables and their goals are outrageous for quarterly equipment sales. LDC's don't make any money now as they've changed the comp plan. It's a tough economy and selling capital equipment is tough, but at Idexx, they have no tolerance for lacking numbers. It's a tough, hard core sales job and the reputation for the reps is not good because once they sell, they move on to meet their goals.
