Institutional Sales, Good place to be?

I noticed quite a few openings for Institutional sales jobs and was hoping someone could fill me in on how that group at Pfizer is doing or what the future was like. Any idea of what the salary range is for this division? Thanks!

Sure, it's like being in the psychiatry division 2 years ago. Where are they now?

If you like management by project/and data entry-it's great. The admin part of the job has made it your main job-selling no longer exists here. More openings to come. Everyone expects this group to be done later this year.

And just not have an institutional sales team? Are they going to then leave it up to the other teams to try and get these products on hospital formularies?

IS: a once proud division run by "operations" idiots who have the ear of management and a place where i-plan activity is more important than sales. This division has been simply ruined by operations types who couldn't sell anything.

This is the only place that active compliance monitoring oppression is like the KGB; where you will be taken out and executed without adequate trial in a Kangaroo Court of rogue-trial reject Esquires (where esq. is used as a social rank title above that of mere sales rep.) to bully and cajole reps into persecution statements and twisted documented testimony to get compliance attorney's "conviction" metrics as high as possible its for annual appraisals to submit to the alter of DDMAC/US Justice to demonstrate compliance efforts are working under the CIA, for a company that has had 4, that's FOUR!, separate felony settlement cases.

All the while, senior management is a willing accomplice, and looks away, to retain its power and privilege, and ELT is paying off politicians and doing dirty cloak room deals paying PfizerPAC "Dollars for Drugs". Meanwhile, IS has no operational business plan or projections after the full year 2014.

Ask anyone around, > 90% of the sales force has been under investigation or had document and e-mail reviews without cause - whether you send them or not.

Stay the hell out!

errr what are 'these products', do we really need reps to get Zyvox and Tyga, both on the back end of their life cycle on formulary? Or will accounts rely on reps for guidance on Prevnar13 or will they rely on the experts at ACIP. Ladies and gentlemen- it is over for IS. Just look at the leadership- Liz "The Cutter" Barrett was put in place to slowly dismantle many divisions. See psychiatry and Rheum. Next is IS.

It's Liz "Chainsaw" Barrett.

These dogs are on the hunt. Just ask around. Pfuck 'em.

If you do well with sales in IS: you will be investigated.
If you volunteer to help sales training: you will be investigated.
If you join a Field Input Team: you will be investigated.

The worst offense of all: the brand teams and how they push out assignments to host webinars. First of, no one wants to do these but the brand teams need to keep people on the brand who manage med-ed vendors so there will be programs regardless of rep or customer feedback. Second, they force the field to "host" the event. As such, I am responsible for everything even thought it's not my program. You NEVER see any HQ Pfucks "hosting" the event. NEVER, because they don't want to be at risk. In summary, if you get picked to host an event: you will be investigated.

Legal runs IS and they don't want us to sell. They want to take whatever sales we get and fire a few reps along the way to say they take compliance seriously.

3 Alarm company that gives VPCs to esquires. Says it all.

Does anyone find it odd that the Zyvox and Tygacil brand teams use the same speakers over and over again (being paid over $100,000 a year) for the same programming topics who have significant influence over IDSA recommendations, major publications and are often department heads of major hospital systems? Then these "brand team marketing-hosted" programs are "pushed" out to reps to do a minimum number of these webcasts or suffer the threat of a bad performance appraisal for "not using all your resources" yet the brands teams are never investigated like field reps?

Is there a cover-up going on? Maybe someone should call a whistleblower attorney and take the cover off of our ad hoc compliance legal department.

Nope. You should know the game by now.

Conspiracy theory at its best! But, if legal actually runs the company, would they, as major shareholders, want to see sales increase? Why would they want to halt sales? Seems like a major flaw in your conspiracy theory argument.

Your premise is flawed. It's not that legal wants to halt sales, per se, it's that legal wants unfettered power and to exert an unmitigated control within the company. It's effect is to halt activities that would otherwise drive sales through a certain big brother "fear factor".

Think about it this way, legal is there to mitigate risk (all risk as much as possible) and all sales activities are inherently risky from a regulatory perspective. Especially, when your company stat-ranks you and compensates you on sales bonuses and contests. And legal is compensated on its performance appraisals with how many compliance investigations it opens and closes. Two different drivers; two different results, at odds with one another.
