In-Office Attendance Tracking

I was wondering how HR is tracking in-office attendance. I’ve heard that 4 hours is the minimum for it to count as a full day, but I’ve also heard 6 hours—does anyone know for sure? I’ve also heard that computer activity might be monitored.

My team is based in a different state, and I was hired as a fully remote employee, but I’ve been told I still need to comply with the in-office policy. The challenge is that the site has space limitations, with desk space being scarce in the mornings, and commuting takes over an hour and a half in traffic.

Would appreciate any insights. Thanks!

Are you good at reading tea leaves ? Or connecting the dot games?

Here are common tactics -

Badge swipes - in/out of building
Log in/out of system
IP address activity
Video monitor and sound tracking
Keyboard/keystroke logging
Geolocation monitor for field reps
Video surveillance

With AI, all this data collection can be reviewed fairly quickly and efficiently for the next round of rolling layoffs

Do the best you can in your role but if they want you out for any reason, they will find or fabricate to move you out

It is best to be a special friend to leaders in good standing or have a spouse in a leadership role to keep you safe, as nepotism is very effective to dodge reduction in workforce

Thanks for the interesting insights! Just to clarify, I’m not worried about layoffs—my performance has been consistently rated as exceeds expectations and I work long hours just typically from home given my team being based in a different state. I know my performance is not necessarily protection in large layoffs.

Specifically, I would like to know for monthly attendance reports sent to VPs, what is the minimum number of hours per day used to mark an employee as ‘in office’?

Attendance is not tracked. No need to worry.

It most certainly is, and effects bonuses of office workers
Im a director in house now, but when I was a sales rep, we were tracked by our iPads and in the car of some sort of telematics device.
do what we all do in the field sales group run out and but an old microwave oven put your devices or your name badge in th microwave/Ferriday cage and they could never track you in fact what I’ve been doing at George Street has been checking in as normal. Put my ID/ipad/iphone/computer in my car or office old microwave/ Faraday cage and leave.

Or maybe you could try coming into the office and working an 8 hour day - just like the good old days. You remember those? When you came to the office and put in full days work and didnt whine and cry about office space and traffic and your tender emotional state.

And I got bad news for you, snowflake - your performance has nothing to do with how secure your job is. If you are sitting in the wrong place on the org chart, you are gone. How much you boss likes you or how hard you work doesnt mean squat.
