Imaging OEM reps (ct/mr scanners etc)- Questions

I am in the imaging space (contrast and injectors for mri and ct) and have been interested in the oem side due to the high cost of these items and therefore more $ for me.

My question is regarding the actual selling of these items. I always chat with directors/techs about their equipment and it sounds like almost always, the equipment is just bundled at idn level and the hospital gets GE or siemens.

How difficult of a role is this? A lot of times my account doesnt't even know who their rep is off the top of their head and just jokes that they go with whatever the health system tells them.

Can anybody chime in? Also, they of course bring in clinical apps, so really how tough of a sell is this from the sales rep standpoint? Thanks in advance

I'm in the space. Came from the grind of ortho. I love it and would suggest it.

When I started I was told to just realize there are long periods of low activity as things are controlled by budgets etc. so there are months with little to no sales. That was the hardest thing to cope with, the anxiety of knowing there is nothing you can really do to push it along.

The money is solid, average rep with the big 5 is ~$150k. Not crazy money, but for the lifestyle more than worth it. I've seen a lot of longevity with reps being in their roles for quite some time. The pace is much better although you do have some moneys of chaos with trying to close big deals, price negotiations, service issues on installed equipment etc.
