Of course there will be layoffs. You can expect to see the corporate jobs go first, most gone on the date of the transaction. Some specific jobs may get a month or two for transfer of knowledge (tax some accountants). I would expect customer service, some sales, manufacturing and even some of the business unit, non management jobs, may stay around. Not a lot of redundency in operational finance, until a unit is fully intergrated.
With that being said, I would expect a 20% reduction in Rochester work force within 60 days of acquisition. and maybe another 20% - 30% 6 months after that.
