If Januvia suprises Adam Schecter...Thousands more will lose jobs

FYI,

If Januvia does not hit revenue targets that have been set for 2014, Merck could possibly be sold off in pieces like a junked car.

Things are so tenuous for Merck at this time that it will only take one more setback for the company collapse. Remember Shecter's words on Oct 2nd..."if Merck is to survive"..."we have to understand where our business is coming from"...and adjust accordingly.

Why this guy is a merck VP is absolutely amazing. Suffice it to say, they are currently selling off marketable pieces of the company in a desperate attempt to raise capital....to miraculously buy promising molecules from biotech firms. They are dumping the sale force to help pay for these acquisitions and think that they can somehow use MDs and PharmDs to promote these biotech phantom drugs to market...

Adam....is this the best you got...dump all reps, hire MDs and hope for another year or two.

I know Adam....Yes....This is the best he's got.

Sounds like wild and crazy thinking. If every pharma firm had big wigs thinking like this everyone would tumble, just like a domino. Look around at all the competition. Its everywhere! Everyone has it. The days of one med being the one and only top gun is gone.......forever!

Betting on one product to carry you though is never smart thinking.
Even I know this!

Signed,
A lightbulb changer....who thinks objectives need more objective thought.

I think what's needed is to give all the top executives a 20% raise and a nice year end bonus. I'm sure that will light a fire under them and good decisions will flow like manna from heaven

This is all a game to Adam Schecter. He could care less if your family has it's dreams destroyed. He is a pompous and very dumb VP. I do not know how else to say it. Merck is a bizarre company where VPs live in la la land and never receive the granularity they need to make a decision.

Bad news, new ideas simply fall away because of the culture of fear and aristocracy that lives here does not allow thoughts to rise from the appropriate levels up. Schecter did not earn his way up. Some board member granted him executive pardon and he just kept getting promoted out of fear. This fully explains why his loser brother David Schecter has risen through the ranks also.

There is nothing left to manage...the company needs to be scrapped and rebuilt. The current series of events are beyond Schecter's capabilities. He should step down. he is an embarrassment and is presiding over the most dramatic collapse in US pharma business history.

Hey ADAM is the genius brother....what we cannot sell needs to be sold to others. No less than Brent Sanders, from SGP. It is becoming a too much or a comedy show.
"The decision to divest Saphris in the U.S. is part of our ongoing strategy to sharpen our commercial and R&D focus and improve our operational effectiveness," said Jay Galeota, president, Hospital and Specialty Care at Merck. "This agreement will allow Merck to focus both R&D and commercial resources on other opportunities, while complementing Forest’s product portfolio and allowing for continued access to Saphris for physicians and patients."

Merck is like a sad garage sale a home owner might have when they have just lost their job...Now Merck is selling off whatever it can to raise a buck to pay the mortgage.

At the same time, the VPs are out shopping for "adjacencies" to leverage what is left of our product line in the market. Define leverage: Use the adjoining company to gain access, curry favor, collect data, influence purchase of our pharmaceuticals.

Have any of you fucking morons taken a policy test lately !!!

In steps Merck legal. Customer Solutions at Merck was/is a debacle. Merck legal has a hyper vigilant lens on everything we do. If you buy an adjancency...they will screw it up....and the funds will be wasted.

I have been here 32 years....please document that I am wrong. Bring it on !!!!

OMG.
Jay Galeota has swallowed the Kool Aid.
Where/when did he drop off the path of common sense?

The ongoing strategy? Not to collapse tomorrow.

So the VP suggests that MRK is in the ICU?
Who put MRK in the ICU?
All the idiots who helped Adam up the corporate ladder, maybe?
What an absolutely obtuse, depressing and demoralizing thing to tell employees---

Adam,
Are you talking to yourself, perhaps?
That's something a Bus Admin 101 instructor would say to a freshman class.
Where does your business come from, Einstein Schechter?
Inquiring minds want to know...

Good God. With comments like Schechter's, maybe Merck IS terminal.
George Merck must be rolling in his grave.

Well I understand Merck plans to re-deploy the neuro reps who are being downsized to diabetes territories that are below 100% to plan. What is next?

The neuro reps are history.

Januvia is going to continue to decline.

Merck's only real franchise drug is in big trouble and we all know it. If DDP4 and GLP-1 analogs don't destroy it, inhalable insulin will.

This company is hurting.
