I miss Uncle Wyeth

Seriously, I do. It's been, what? 2 1/2 years, and I still keep thinking it's just a bad dream, that I'm going to wake up, and the co. I'm with now will magically morph into Wyeth. I loved this company, and I loved my job here. I keep looking for a company like Wyeth, but haven't been able to find one... doubt one exists. Yes, I know I'm looking at the past with some really rosey glasses, but am I alone? Has anyone found anywhere that treats us as well as the Uncle did??

Very few, the problem lies with most American corporations-greed at the top and number one priority is return to the shareholders. People are expendible, a liability easily replaced by downsizing to control costs and increase profits. Look to companies from Switzerland or Japan, they have a foward vision and respect for their employees.

You are not alone. I miss Wyeth. I know many people do. The trend now is for corporations to neglect their employees for profit. Of course business needs to prosper, but the days of taking care of your employees and treating them like they are special and important are waning. Things will swing back some day, but not for a long time. Life is not the same, thanks to those who sold Wyeth out. A lot of people will never regain what they lost when Wyeth was eaten by the big glutten.

It was good Pfizer is not much different. Turning the page and trying to keep the pension alive as sad as that is. Its like new management with another product and territory like we have a hundred times before. Focus on moving the product. Super memories though.

Sorry to say, but I don't. I do miss the pay and some bunnies though.

I found a company that offers similar benefits minus the pension and 401(k) match. Make a few K less every year too. But some of the BS was too much. Also if you had a good manager you would be sure to see him replaced by a looser

I was planning to start looking to leave Wyeth after I finished a project that would have made me more marketable to my next employer. Of course, that was killed as too expensive while we were waiting for the merger to close.

I do miss my co-workers. I worked with a great group of people, now those folks are what I miss. And I think most of us thought the place sucked though it was slowly improving.

But I don't miss the A-holes that let their silly titles go to their heads. Some execs were real douche bags and treated those under them like trash. Especially the law dept.

Either way life moves on, we all experience change. And what you miss is the familiarity of the old routine. As you settle into the new life you build without your old position you'll miss Wyeth less. I hate these trite sayings, but, when you overcome this loss you'll prove to yourself how strong you really are.

Wyeth was a great training ground that helped launch my career. For that I am grateful.

The craziness tho, I do not miss. The string of horrible products launches and recalls were a joke that lead to the problems.

The stock options were a blessing, and very kind.

Glad I got out before the crash/merger...as it would've been too late.

Blessings to all!

I do too.....I made it over to Pfizer....I was only 1 of 8 out of 85 in my state to make it. Made it another 3 years and was just cut in the last downsizing. Wyeth was fun, great people and a good company! It's sad that it's gone due to the American Greed.......John Wyeth must have rolled in his grave!

I started in sales with Wyeth over 30 years ago. Back then,it was actually a fun job. Things started to go south in the late `80s as mergers really kicked in. The culture of the company changed significantly as Ayerst,Robins, and Lederle came aboard. At least I have the fond memories of the "good old days". I retired with an excellent pension(lump sum),so I am grateful to Wyeth for giving me a chance as a youngster and having a good pension plan.
