Today our group was informed that a employee that recently accepted a position was given another another position due to unforeseen circumstances.

EG in MC & S tried to make it sound like it was a PMP issue, but a PMP has never over ruled Merck policy. EG in the MC &S group is making placement decisions based on preliminary information he has about the job cuts about to impact us all. He has placed and replaced a buddy according to an "identified PMP goal" (really confidential headcount reduction information , alias, keep my buddy employed.) We should all have the same benefit. He has moved a person from a responsive manager in place for a month to a solutions consultant role in the Pa geography. What?
Fact: Eric recently went to his boss to ask for consideration around the headcount reduction. Obviously he didn't get it and is placing folks before the HR process begins. We should all have the same opportunity!
