You know what always cracks me up? When a manager is given the choice to either resign or we will fire you. And what is the go to excuse for them “resigning”?? To spend more time with their family. Yeah, good times….

Not a smart comment

Many have resigned and jump to other jobs that require less travel, or have less pressures, to indeed spend time with the family.

I myself, took a year off to do that.
The time I spent with my son that year save his life and brought us closer. I helped him navigate thru a serious depression, sexual identity and self destructive behaviors.

So before laughing at others and assuming misinformed reasons, reach out to your coworker and ask whether there is something you can do to help the family and them navigate thru the transition period. Be a,friend, be a good colleague, be a good human

I am in hospice with my mother and most managers in companies could care less about you and your family. It is usually all about them and their advancement, with a some disguised words that they care. I don’t mean to be a senical. Take care of your family first!

Been there and did that. All my manager said to me was to do whatever I I had to do for myself and my mom. She passed comfortably with her family around her the 8th day of hospice care. My manager’s support meant a great deal to me, and from that day on, I’d walk through a brick wall for him.

That should be everyone’s objective in life. The “job” is still way down the list of priorities for me. It’s a means to an end. I do and I do it well…..for my family….and now for my manager.
