Long time no be here GI.....well I too have been contacted by the DOJ investigators and asked what I had to add to offer to the evidence of Novartis' dinner programs, round tables, lunches and other criminal acts. Ha ha. Well, let's face it, every company is doing it...every DM looking to become a RM is pushing every rep to push the rules to and beyond the envelope. I would love to be on the stand testifying as to how I felt about the programs, what I was told by management, how I was reprimanded for "not spending all my promotional money." I told them it was a waste of time, you get the same three elderly docs at each program, no one at home to cook for them so why not show up for a freebie? Same thing with lunches much of the time, the doctor you want to see doesn't come to the lunch, you are lucky if you can chase him down in the hall for a "signature quickie." Problem is that no one gets cuffed and lead away to the pokey at the end of the trial. Novartis pays a huge fine, the stock holders pay for it essentially and Joe Jimenez and his minions pocket their big bonus' and stock options and on to the next debacle. I just hope the folks I knew who made it to the top of the food chain didn't become involved in such activities. I knew of reps who were "killing it." But to kill in in many cases you had to not just bend the rules but shatter them. Christmas party? Sure doctor.....I'll just put it down as a lunch, have all the attendees sign in and we will be good to go. And don't tell me the manager didn't know about it when every rep and competitor did.......and one opened their mouth and bang, someone lost their job. It's called KARMA. Good luck everyone....keep your nose clean and remember.....
