How to get into ISI?

Background: surgical tech for 7 years. I’ve scrubbed robots. After I graduated, it was difficult to get into device. So I went pharma, I have a year in specialty pharma sales. Finished in the top 20. I’d argue that it’s significantly better than coming from Hertz or enterprise.

I’d love to be back in the OR. I’ve heard I should probably do one more year in this gig, but from what I hear, device doesn’t like to hire pharma reps.

The internet tells me I’d probably take a pay cut to be a sales associate. 90k? Is that correct? Is there a bonus structure?
Thanks for any input.

I think your in a decent spot. Scrubbed surgical robots and sales experience should go pretty far. I do think you should do 12-18 mos as a sales associate to cut your teeth and then skies the limit. If ISI is your target company, identify the reps and manager in your area and start making connections. Don’t limit yourself to just ISI/robots however. There’s lots of great opportunities, you just have to go find them. Set up a profile on MedReps.com and start flooding your resume to all the recruiters. More contacts you make, the better off you’ll be. Good luck! I did pharma for almost 5 years, jumped to an ASR role, and have been full line for over 12 years, so it can be done!
