HOW REALISTIC IS IT TO HIT/EXCEED GOALS?

I AM INTERVIEWING FOR AN OPEN SPOT IN OPTHALMOLOGY AND HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT AT PLAN THE PAYOUT IS 38K. HOW REALISITIC IS IT TO EXPECT TO HIT/EXCEED GOAL YEAR AFTER YEAR? WHAT ARE SOME OF THE BIGGEST CHALLENGES TO MAKING SOME GOOD MONEY? AND DOES ANYONE EVER REALLY GET THE MAX OF 90K IN BONUS?
 












THAT'S TOO BAD. SO AT WHAT TOTAL PORTFOLIO PERCENT OF PAYOUT WOULD YOU SAY ON AVERAGE ONE CAN EXPECT? DO PEOPLE REALLY HIT THEIR 100% COMP PAYOUT AT 38K OR IS THAT NOT REALISTIC? ALSO DO YOU KNOW ANYONE WHO HAS COMPED OUT AT 90K (THE MAX)? I REALLY APPRECIATE THE HELP.
 


















I don't know anyone who has hit the 90k max but I'm sure it happens. I've been here for 5 years and out of the 5 years, I have narrowly missed expected payout once, made it twice, and blew it out twice. Goals are fair and attainable as long as you do your job. Hope this helps.

THANKS FOR THE RESPONSE. THAT'S GOOD TO HEAR. DO YOU THINK THE NEW WAY THAT THEY HAVE STRUCTURED THE GOALS TO BE BASED ON TOTAL PRESCRIPTIONS RATHER THAN MARKET SHARE WILL HELP OR HURT? ALSO - IF ANYONE ELSE HAS ANY COMMENTS TO MAKE AROUND THE ORIGINAL GOALS QUESTION, I WOULD GREATLY APPRECIATE IT.
 
























The goals are very easy to hit. I exceed them every year. I routinely make over 60k per year in bonus. My salary is nice too. 80k salary w a 60k bonus. The products are good and aren't hard to sell. I hope this helps.

Very interesting to see the difference in pay between SEE and other divisions...Eye opening to say the least.

Thanks for being honest in your response. What would you say the norm is for bonuses in a year? Management always tells you one thing and the reality often tends to be different.

80k base? You are either lying or very lucky. The most I've heard of someone being brought into the company making is 70k base to start out.

Not lucky, just real good. I work hard and don't treat this job like most cheerleaders that are hired for some of these positions. If you work - you exceed goal. Please tell me that this is the experience of others as well. What kinds of bonuses are others making out there with Alcon? Quarterly/annually?

Your either naive, brainwashed, management or live in the right part of the nation (i.e.- west).
