How much longer will Kowa last?

I just don't see how Kowa can make it. People are leaving like crazy. Good ppl. Not the incompetent Sr. 'Leadership' Team. They are in above their heads and too pompous to admit it. With those goofballs in charge, there is no hope.
Livalo gone in ~3 months. Seglentis is the most ineffective acute pain drug on the plant. The 'co-Crystal' message is BS. There is nothing that can be done to sell this drug. You can't give it away. This will never change. No 'co-promotes' for 2+ years or more. And what about the ever elusive 'R&D' division. Where is it? What are they working on? When will they have a new product to launch? I don't believe they even exist.
I'll give Kowa 6 more months, max. And that's being generous. What do you all think?

Well it is not that bad at Kowa. Livalo is still a great drug and making upwards to $500 million this year. Could have done more if upper management didn’t decide to abandon it for a year. BLINKRX will give Kowa another opportunity for a year of Livalo if successful! SEG is a good option for acute pain upper management just didn’t know what they were doing jumping into the acute pain market with zero experience.

Amarin actually laid off their whole sales force. They are looking for another co-promote again! It would be a great fit again but Amarin made a lot of dumb decisions. Kowa was great for them.

Well glad to see JM or Jason (Tennis Pro) Farley is frequenting the site. Is Kowa done? Probably not. Japan carried Livalo without turning a profit for many years. They do have an ophthalmology drug that will be profitable if it makes it to market in a few years. They have invested a lot in R&D and won't walk away quickly. Mr. Miwa treats this like Mark Cuban does the Dallas Mavericks. Whatever it takes. I could see an elimination of the sales force for a period of time. They could increase the phone reps and bide there time unless the Seglentis agreement requires some level of support.

As to the BLINK partnership. I heard from a former senior level person who had lunch with finance people at Kowa who says after all the outlays including reps, BLINK is NOT profitable. It is a net negative depending on rep payments. It is difficult to sell a product and cut off the pharmacies you need to sell Seglentis. That will get better when you have a generic. You won't care. Amarin makes Blink work so anything is possible.

Seglentis is a viable product they need to rewrite the copay card to be same as cash for up to 14-day supply to generate demand. It won't happen due to Medicare fears.

Leadership is a joke. Hopefully Kowa Japan figures that out at least.

interesting for a very small company when Livalo was generating almost $600 million one year was great! Kowa has definitely made profit on Livalo during its 14 years of branded life! Great drug doctors see that and will fight for it. I agree upper management at Kowa USA isn’t experienced enough. Especially to launch into the acute pain market. It is basically a cardio company. I think BLINKRX will surprise us and actually turn a profit or Kowa wouldn’t invest in this. I heard Amarin didn’t do much with BLINKRX. Kowa has already downsized their reps force by pushing lazy reps out. The company use to have like 320 reps now recently Steve said on the national call they had to “readjust” the payout due to having a change in rep count.

Glad to see someone with a triple digit IQ posts on our board. All are very good observations my friend. I agree with you on all counts.

Jeff Moore should have his man tits pierced & horse whipped like the little bitch that he is. Arrogance & ignorance is a terrifying combination….how he slipped into the big seat is a fascinating, catastrophe. Listen folks, he’s a LOSER!

I don't think you understand. The second Livalo goes generic, the sales will drop to nothing overnight. Payers and pharmacies (especially independents) will be proactively supporting this. Nothing, including BLINKRX is going to change this event. If anyone thinks this won't happen, you should think again.
And if anyone, and everyone thinks SEG is a good option for acute pain, think again. Not only did Sr. Leadership and the Product Manager have a clue about the pain market, even if they did, they would be shocked to fully understand what a crappy pain drug it is and never would have agreed to sell it in the first place. There is nothing, nothing that can ever change this ridiculousness of this. It barely even made it past the FDA with a split vote and then, Purdue sat on it for a year or two before giving it back to Esteves.
Worst pain drug and worst launch in the history of Pharma. Nothing will change Seg current performance.

Just think about it. If you just had all of your wisdom teeth extracted at the age of 40, if you've ever experienced the pain of delivering a baby, C-Section, breaking any bone, having a root canal, having a wound that needed stitches, having a minor/major outpatient surgery, having a minor/major inpatient surgery, getting a tooth pulled, having a major red, inflamed, swollen and pulsating skin infection, accidently driving a nail in your finger doing a DIY house project, falling on cement with all your body weight and bruising a bone, having a massive migraine, I could go on but I think you get the picture. These would all be considered 'acute pain' examples.
If any of these things happened to you, would you settle for an Rx of Seg, to immediately relieve your pain and give you the relief and support you need to safely recover from your injury without the added stress of pain?
If you answered 'no'. then that is he true answer. If you answered 'yes', I dare you to try it. You will find that SEG is a horrible drug for acute pain and any other kind of pain for that matter.
Prove me wrong!

I couldn't have said this better myself! Great post and very accurate!!

Someone said, “arrogance & ignorance.” That perfectly sums up a newer DM who was hired in December. Knows nothing, but believes she knows everything. Incapable of engaging in any kind of clinical conversation. She doesn’t know that, however.
