How many were laid off in Rochester?

So two different reports about Rochester.

1. 200 laid off, no one from D&R, 200 more in 6 months.

2. 560 laid off

The company told all the employees not to talk to the press so maybe we will never know the real number.

It does not seem that surviving a layoff now will save you next year. More cuts likely to come at some point.

Seems like there is a conspiracy between the company and the politicians to keep the number look lower than it actually was. It was weird that the person who was quoted for the final layoff number was Gov. Cuomo.

And don't think for a minute those 90-day severance packages were out of the goodness of their heart. Valeant violated NY's WARN Act, and 90-days of pay is what they must have settled with the NYS Dept. of Labor to avoid even bigger penalties.

Read the fine print...10-15% was the percentage of people to be laid off in the aggregated B+L / Valeant organization. The cuts for B+L were to be much higher as a percentage.

At least another 2000 layoffs to reach 15%. Europe & Asia yet to be cut and the possible sale of lens business. And then it starts all over again for them. :-(
