How many of you still have the company car?

Call you when in the area huh? A co-worker living in the same city as me got the call 10 days ago, and I haven't heard a peep. They are picking up that car on Friday. If Wheels and Luitpold operate with the same efficiency, I will have this car for another 6 mo!!!

yeah, well I wouldn't drive the car too far because you have no idea whether or not you are insured. Also, we know your finishing mileage because you turned in your expense report. Your welcome - from the home office :)

But anyone can call their own insurance and instantly get the car covered, just as you do when you "buy" a car.... But no driving without your own insurance. And why do we care if the mileage is higher? What will you do?
Your FIRED!

oh pleeze. there is no way luitpold can terminate the insurance while not notifying the driver.

(and it is you're not your ...)

Actually dummy the person typed "you are" not "your" in which case that would also make their English correct. But who cares about the English. The person is a fool for driving the car much after November 30th. The car is insured by Wheels, but the x Regency representative may very well not b insured.

Incorrect grasshopper. Below is exactly what was written.

"Your welcome - from the home office" You're would be correct usage. No one here thinks home office actually wrote that post but we do want to poke at the poster for such an inane remark.

AND insurance ALWAYS follows the car. This means, for example, it you lend your corvette to a friend and they have an accident, it goes on your insurance because it is your vehicle. No charges related to the accident are put on the driver.

No personal insurance company could insure the company vehicle because it is already insured.

Home office made no stipulation about how many miles could or could not be driven so that is a moot point as well.

Luitpold is liable for the vehicle - but not the fuel. Employees are liable for the condition of the vehicle in terms of cleanliness and following the maintenance schedule as per the sop.

i am guessing you never worked here but that's ok too.

Let me tell you, we were thinking of buying the car. I called my insurance company gave them the ven# and they added the car. Done and true. Don't you think a dealer has insurance on a car? Then you sign papers or ----take it home for a 3 day and you always call your insurance company. So drive the crap out of it

What if it is sitting in my driveway and a tree falls on it? Or it is vandalized? I'm not responsible, it has insurance. You just need insurance to drive it to protect yourself and others. Liability and collision, short term anyway.

true. the dealer can let you have the car for a few days to test out. common. the dealer is insuring the car for that period though you should read any agreement you may be asked to sign before you take it home. there may be a deductible listed for any damage while in your possession.

the issue raised here was that luitpold terminated the insurance before a rep had the car reclaimed by wheels. there is no way luitpold would risk cutting insurance without notifying the driver. they cannot discharge responsibility for insuring the vehicle as easy as they discharged us.

when you buy a car, the insurance company runs a check on the vin # to make sure the title is clear (not leased by someone else like luitpold which precludes a purchase), that it is not been deemed salvage (like cars from hurricane sandy), or that it has been stolen. then they issue insurance.

anyone still with a luitpold vehicle has coverage. luitpold may decide to charge you for the mileage driven past your last expense report but you could dispute it if you did not receive an sop on that point which we did not.

ok i admit i sold insurance so again the vehicle is insured by luitpold. the actual physical car is covered. in this example, any items stolen during vandalism fall under your home owners policy and you better get a police report for your home owners claim and for luitpold's claim with their insurance carrier.

bottom line: just because they were so rotten and canned us without any warning, don't be an idiot with the car. any damage that gets assessed above $50 will be charged to you no doubt!

Why would you be so childish as to purposefully damage the vehicle? I can see driving it for personal use, especially if you don't have another car. But purposefully damaging or beating on the car is pretty stupid. Won't "teach anyone a lesson," and if you do enough, you'll be asked to pay for it, legally if needed. Don't be a jackass.

What in the world are you talking about? Nobody said anything about doing any damage or that they were going to vandalize the car!

This a perfect example of jumping to a wrong conclusion, so typical of home office peeps. I highly doubt anyone would even think of doing this. Nobody is that upset over this job.

Finally! The guy showed up today without calling, two days late and smelled like Vodka at noon. He had no paperwork so I told him no paperwork, no car. Came back with paperwork. The guy acted like it was a repo, I was pissed. I called wheels to report him.
So glad to have that off my mind.
