How is DP doing over in LapBand?

<

[QUOTEt=Anonymous;4366099]Just wondering how he is flourishing in the world of obesity? have the reimbursement hurdles fallen in response to his leadership?[/QUOTE]

DP is doing fine with what he has to work with in the obesity market. Trying to put lipstick on a pig is not easy.

Some of the hurdles removed...6 month MSWL to 3 months. However the reimbursment for surgeons is also shrinking for the actual surgery. Surgeons can still bill quite a bit in clinic for the adjustments. However show me a surgeon that wants to spend more time in clinic than he does in the OR. Hence, Sleeve is eating Lap Band alive. Allergan Medical experiencing eroding market share for last 2 1/2 years. The only strategic answer has been the "saftey" message of Lap-Band(which is true and a great point) and the Primary Care calls the existing OR/Account Managers are now being asked to make so the PCP's can start trying to perform adjustments. Stress on the word "try." None of the PCP's feel great about this yet. Not sure how long this product will last before it is dropped from the bag.

Allot of reps gone and turnover is high. The overall feel of the division is not positive. How can it be?

Jim Caggiano, the head of LapBand, is absolutely clueless. LapBand is one of the hottest weight loss medical tools in the World and this guy has no clue how to sell it!

Show this clown the door !
