How has this job changed?

Serious here because I'm not sure I want to stay if Kept. I never thought I would say that but I have been here 3 years and only have a limited history.

How has your daily job changed from 15 years ago, 10 years ago, 5 years ago, to present.

They are about change the comp drastically. By eliminating all jobs and creating new ones it affords the opportunity to reduce variable and even change base salaries for the new roles. You will have the opportunity to accept the position or not.

Yeah, I agree. I do not want to stay either. I hope I am one of the reps who gets the phone call on Thurs am. I am ready to leave. But, I am sure it is stressful for those who want to stay. I guarantee not many reps will sleep well on Wed night. I will sleep like a baby.

Will someone answer the f'ing question. The reason it is important is because only a tenured rep that has been here a while knows the long term trend of how this job has changed

K , Executive full line here over 20 years. Salary went up commission went down . When I started base was 32 k with a 60 k draw. At one time we made over 18% ovef a little forecast
... But we had zero business until we bought it . When they took away draw and increased salary the big money days were over . I call 200 k big money . Enjoyed what I did made a great living,a great pension , couple of more years free health care for life. THE JOB IS NOT WORTH THE STRESS , mind you I say that looking back after having banked and saved over 7 figures and invested the money properly. But the question is what has changed . EVERYTHING WILL ALWAY CHANGE < YOU CANT GROW WITH OUT CHANGE > SO SHUT UP DO YOUR JOB AND IF YOU DONT LIKE IT LEAVE > SEE IF YOU CAN PUT YORU BIG BOY PANTS ON > WE are really not that important . If you think you are that good go work for your self and see if you can compete

You"re obviously a bitter Endo rep. on the EP side, salary has always been low and variable comp- just that. Variable. Keep in mind a long time ago, Endo and EP were together. They separated and are now bringing them back together.

another eflam. dont think other poster is bitter . i agree . FYI I was an INC guy who went to EES. seen it all . still the best place to be in devices. JOB is different but where does an old guy like me go . Soon it will be to the bank to deposit my pension check so no complaints here .

I'm not so sure I'd go so far as to say it's the best place to be in devices, however, it's not terrible. I've been in device for 16 years now, with 3 different companies. All of them went through change at some point. Change can be good and bad. If we're talking about compensation plans, they've definitely changed since I've started my device sales career. It's a shell game, it's been getting a little harder every year to be able to figure out which shell the money is under. My advice is to work the plan as best as you can, squeeze every penny out of it, and move on if you feel you can find a better opportunity. However, as you get further into your career, you'll start to see that their are other things that you value other than just the salary and variable comp....i.e. pension, good health benefits, etc... J&J in my experience has a very competitive if not superior benefits package. For what it's worth, the old days of selling for a company and getting paid from dollar one are far and very few between.
