How Good or Bad is Forest?

I worked for Forest after working for another major pharma company. I thought I had stepped into a really bad SNL skit. I kept waiting on someone to start laughing and say, " You just got punked" or "You're on candid camera."

If you need a paycheck, go for it. But if you can hold out and get something else, that will be best.

They are about 10 years behind on their "sales" approach. Really bad at ethics. Really good at back-biting and back-stabbing.

The manager I had was a real troll. He was really more concerned with expense reporting and activity measurements and not with real sales results. I have to believe that the turnover at Forest must be high. I noticed that the managers that I came into contact with had a very high opinion of themselves. Higher than anyone around them had of them. I am not sure where that comes from. Insecurity ? Lack of maturity ? I do not know.

These are obviously just one person's opinions but they are from someone who has been at other pharma companies. Forest does not come close to touching the other companies I know well.

Maybe it was just the region I was in. But I got out pretty quickly when I realized my mistake.

I never worked for Forest but the reputation of the company by other reps is horrible. They have the reputation of being the most unethical company in pharma. I know a manager that won't even interview you if you worked at Forest. So I guess good/bad depends on what you're looking for. If you just need a paycheck, their money is as green as anyone's. If you are looking for a job you can be proud of then you should probably move on. If you are looking for somewhere you can move up with, you better be a jock or an ass kisser because it's NOT based on results. There was a guy in my territory that was the worst sales rep I ever heard in front of a doctor. I found out he had horrible rankings. Next thing I heard he was a trainer and then a district manager. How funny is that? Of course he was a baseball player in college and he played basketball with the regional director in some rec league. And if you are female, forget it, you WON'T be moving up. So good luck with whatever you decide.

The company has had a terrible reputation in the pharma industry. I have been working for them for 1 year b/c I needed the job. Some of the people I work with are wonderful. The management thinks its find to piss have your docs off as long as you have good market share. Aren't we suppose to be the one to conform to them and sell, not just sell today but over time. They are really setting themselves up for a down fall on some of there ideas.

It's much better in the hospital division. Hospital is where they treat you like adults. You don't have the micromanagement of the retail sales teams. The managers are older and much more experienced as well. It's the place to be...trust me.

You obviously have no idea what your talking about. The micromanagement in hospital is unbearable. You are a moron.

Agreed! Not sure what division the OP is in, but it sure isn't mine! Weekly tracker, countless voicemails about best practices from the POA. We even got a voicemail before the POA telling us to make sure we participate at the meeting. Who does that?! Why would you need to say that to a tenured salesforce. Meeting was a waste of time. They could have scheduled a conference call to go over what we "learned" at the POA. Laughable. Not to mention the two-day ride alongs and the reach and frequency reports. Why is R&F even important for a hospital rep?

Kudos to you if your manager isn't a micromanager!
