how does your drug really differentiate

my mother was just told to go on Lotronex for IBS I researched it and can not find a difference between this and generic Zofran. It is costing her a ton as she is Med D and tier 5 I questioned it, as I am in the industry but not my therapeutic area. I was told it is more selective but I don't see the chemical difference comments?

This is a question for her treating HCP. The training here is sub par and I would not trust a response offered here.

Although both medications are in the same class they are different chemicals. Zofran helps nausea more and Lotronex helps the pain, urgency and diarrhea of IBS-d. We are not trained on Zofran because it is not used for IBS but for cancer patients. You should speak with her physician.
