The most important key to this job is the territory you are taking over. If it is an expansion scratch territory, you are in for at least 2 years of torture trying to build it up to the point you can make any money. If a rep left or retired, find out how much was given to existing TM's. If they carved the territory up and let the experienced TM's pick it apart, it will be the same as a scratch territory. If current sales aren't over $1 mil, I wouldn't touch it unless you are your mid-20's and can put the time and effort into a long term growth cycle.
