How Covidien handles resignations

I'm about to resign from Surgical Solutions and want to know how they handle it? If you give two weeks notice, do they expect you to still work and will they pay you for it? How long will it be for them to pick up the car, computer, etc? Thanks for any helpful advice.

I would say they will probably let you work out the 2 weeks depending on who you are going to work for. MGR will get credit card, phone computer and any demo on your last day or before. Fleet company will get your car but it may take a few weeks. Get your expenses submitted and cleared up asap.

Having left there myself, I can tell you that you definitely need and want to give them the full two weeks, more for HR purposes than anything else. While you probably never want to go back to Covidien, if you don't offer two weeks you are listed a "not re-hireable". You never know what may happen in the years to come and you may want to come back to some division of them. Plus it's a small world only getting smaller.
And yes, they will absolutely pay you. You still work for them up until your final day. They also have to pay you commission, either the full amount for that month or a prorated amount. It just depends on which day you made your official last day.
As for the car, someone will come pick it up from you (manager or another rep) just so you don't have access to it. That usually happens in those two weeks. Computer, files, company credit card, phone, etc. will either be picked up when you get checked out or sent back in. All if this is supposed to be done by your manager but sometimes they're "too busy" to do that stuff so it might be left to one of your teammates to be the bad guy.
