How Bright is the future at Otsuka?

Is the future at Otsuka as bright as the managers are selling to those interviewing for the new psych sales force? When they talk of the merger of the sales force selling Abilify with the new sales force created to sell depot...I cannot help but think there will be downsizings at that time, but please tell me if I am incorrect, I may just be jaded by my current company...

The future is bright. Otsuka is a company with a lot of money. They don't have that many reps even selling Abilify and it's one of the top drugs written by physicians. It is a good company. They micromanage a great deal--I think that is more in the past few years with some change in leadership. If they didn't micromanage, they'd be one of the best companies to work for. But, it's a good and stable company.

Agree with the poster. A good, solid, company. But they are stuck in the Big Pharma mode of a decade or so ago. Way too many dinner/lunch programs to do in terms of teleconferences and getting docs out. Field contact reports that are pages long with silly metrics. Then again like all of us in pharma alot of that depends on the manager and if they are realistic in todays office enviornment. One plus I have learned is that mental health clinics, etc, has better access than those comming from internal med/primary care and even some of the other specialty offices.
