How bad is it at OsteoMed

Is it really as bad to work here as everyone says it is? I just interviewed for an SBO position and the manager seemed like a weird creepy kind of guy. I'm trying to land my first med device job. I have been cutting my teeth in copier sales for the last 3 years. I interviewed a surgeon and he said that OsteoMed is not a real player and that it is not a longterm job. Also the posts on here are almost all negative. Any help would be great.

remember, 99% of the people who post on CafePharma are former employees of each respective company. this is not a good place to gain unbiased information about a company. i started a new job this year and jumped on here to read up on the company i was interviewing with. every post was negative but i took the job after forming my own conclusions and couldn't be happier. your doing the right thing by talking to doctors and getting their input, thats the best way to learn about a company.

How bad does not really matter since you are attempting to enter the medical device arena. Just get in and hold on for at least a year. After that, you will be able to move to a better place. The longer you hang on, the easier it will be to move to greener pastures. Just keep your expectations VERY LOW and you will NOT be disappointed. You can do this and it will be worth it.

Good luck!

well said! go into it with a positive attitude, knowing that its going to be tough, and just gain knowledge and experience and their will be better opportunities down the road if you start looking again.

DD is a fine manager. He is there when you need him but does not micromanage. What other manager has been at OM longer? I worked for him a couple of times at OM and he was the consummate professional. His background helps him connect with ortho surgeons. If OM ever buys a staple company he can run it for them.

I have a feeling Dave wrote this reply himself but nevertheless, what ortho surgeons has Dave connected with? He falls in line just like Toby and Walt like. That is the only reason he is stil there. He pressures reps to sell more when he has never sold a screw in his life. He doesn't understand the inadequecies of the products and therefore is just a front man for Toby and Walt. He will be fired or leave within a year. Guaranteed. I don't know why an OsteoMed Mgr would ever leave until they are fired though. They watch their kids all day and call their reps once in a while and say what have you sold today. Very bad company. Anyone who thinks Dave is a bright guy better think again.

Did you ever fix the breaking 1.2mm screws?

The local rep here tells Surgeons to use a 1.0mm pilot drill and make sure you only use two fingers!

I put my 1.2's into wood clock all the time with .9mm drill....can't break 'em!

If you are really serious about a job in med device don't look to this message board. This is really just a bunch of disgruntled past employees that blame everything and everybody on their own failures. Call current sales representatives in the company and ask questions of them. Ask about the Regional Manager, the product and the market. Ask the creepy RM to give you some names and numbers of current sales representatives that are having success. Seriously, stay away from this blog. This is intended for ex employees that have been fired to blast everyone and everything and feel good about themselves. OsteoMed is a great company and their are a lot of great sales reps that continue to do very very well.

No but you have! Continue with your 12 steps. You're doing great you've blamed product and Regional Management for your failures and now a personal attack on someone with a weight problem. You should feel real good about yourself. Keep it up, follow up with yet another posting bashing the company that continues to pay you. I'm assuming you still work for the company.[/QUOTE

Unfortunately this board is certainly for current employees. Unfortunately a lot of the negative posts on here are accurate. There is a very bad sentiment around this company. I feel bad bashing a company that pays my bills but it is what it is. They threaten and harass about hitting quota but the products make it extremely tough to compete. They let Tina Fernandez control a product launch. That was a bad decision. She was not knowledgeable about the products, procedures or anatomy. OsteoMed is a tough place to make a living and I will be leaving when I can.

You feel bad bashing a company that pays your bills but you are going to bash it anyway. That's awesome, says a lot about your character. You really are a loser. You are working your way through the 12 steps like the other losers. Blaming everyone but yourself for your ineptness. It's OK, and part of the process, keep on bashing and blaming. You will get to the point where you realize the guy in the mirror is the one at fault.

You left and are making double what you did with Osteomed and you still have this built up hate for this company. You make twice what you were making and you still spend your time spewing hate for individuals and the company.....do you really think anyone believes you? You still can't get over the fact that you couldn't hack it. I'm a current TM and I think you have a serious problem letting go.

You must have someone help you answer the verification questions prior to submitting your post because there is no way you could answer them by yourself.

Hmmm..you left and are now making double what you made with Osteomed. That most likely puts you in the $120k per year range. I guess that's really something to hang your hat on huh?? r*****.
