Hospital Salesforce getting Daliresp

The reality is the hospital sales force is turning itself over. People are jumping ship left and right. Forest's reputation within the hospital sector is being ruined as reps are miserable. No one is going to want to come over.

Not sure if people won't want hospital positions or not, but it is true that many people are unhappy - or should I say feeling pressure - in this position. There is no hiding behind "poor partners" or "managed care." And on top of that the product is not a slam dunk. Expections from managment are high, and not a week goes by without another posting or two for a hospital rep. At that rate we are looking at 35% turnover in year one.

On the other side of the coin, some of the hospital reps enjoy being out there alone, with total and absolute responsibility and accountability for their performance. It's an emotional roller coaster, but it is certainly more rewarding than being hidden in a pod of g-d knows how many people and not knowing who is getting it done and who is coasting....

If you don't want to have the spotlight on your performance, than don't take a hospital job. If you get bummed out too easily, don't take a hospital job. If you want to fly below the radar, don't take a hospital job.

I don't think the issue is whether you get bummed out too easily it is more about upper management expectations and their lack of understanding of this market.

None of the RD's or Gerard and upwards have ever launched a new antibiotic so they do not have a CLUE how to do this. Needless to say for those of us that have launched IV antibiotics, we have all come to the conclusion that Forest is driving a sales force into the ground by their clueless demands for more reports and top 250 account updates and DOT expectations or projections as they scramble to drive DOT. Make sure your accounts order the disks! No, wait get them to request an ESA! No wait, schedule that pharmacy teleconference! No, do inservices at 12 midnight!!

HELLO? Do they not understand that many hospitals especially the top 250 often wait 6-12 months before reviewing a new drug? Instead of having a certain amount of patience on the process they are driving away not only the "poor performers" but the top reps will also leave. Yes, we all get that our job is to drive DOT, we are not retarded. But if upper management does not clue into the morale of their entire salesforce, they will soon have 80% turnover including the poor district managers.

Don't know if anyone in upper management ever reads this stuff, but got an idea!! If you want to know the truth.... survey the ENTIRE hospital sales force and get their feedback. Or at least take a management 101 class... soon.... please.....

I agree completely.
