Honest opinions of my chance of getting laid off.

I’m a new interferon specialist (ms). Is it inevitable that I will get laid off? Some additional background, this is my first specialty role and the territory is doing better than 70% of the other interferon territories. Serious insight only. I hope I can find another specialty role but now everyone will be looking for the same job and my resume just doesn’t stack up.

If you were on Adu side the chances would be 100 percent. On MS side it’s about 1/4 chance. MS is a very crowded space, Tec lost exclusivity and honestly there are better therapeutic areas that pay more. Biologic Derm, Rheumatology and Rare Disease all pay north of 165k base with some in the 185k range. Add in bonuses and it’s 200-250k which is very good income in most states except maybe NY, or CA. Good luck!

I’d guess your risk is high, but take it with a grain of salt. Everyone is guessing at this point. The inf. experiment hasn’t borne fruit. Platforms could be covered by VUM/Tys Team.
Keep your eyes open for other opportunities, Biib is in a rut and will be for some time. Learn what you can and earn a spot with a stronger better led company.

I would say that your chances are greater than 1/4 and Adu isn’t getting rid of all of the reps. I would guess 50%. Also, I came from rheum (had derm partner), and, make more here. I’m at $159k on the Adu side. There are at least 3 that I know that make more than I do
and one that makes a little less. It’s a range everywhere, but the average on the Adu side of the handful that I know is higher than the average the pretty big group of people’s salaries that I know in rheum and derm (a year ago). It’s proven that if you jump ship regularly, you make a lot more than people who stay put for long periods of time. The range in rheum where I came from started at $120k and went to $170k, but that was a far outlier. Average was about $130-140k and the target bonus was $11k less.

And we made more than the Abbvie and Pfizer reps.

These positions were a joke from the start. If they start looking at the MS Div you will be the first ones to go!!

Cue the Hunger Games. A colleague of mine just told one of their matrix team members that they are confident that they are not getting laid off. This person has consistently made others look bad in order to elevate themselves, self promotes at every opportunity and sadly, no one likes but they’ll tell you how popular they are. I believe them. This is EXACTLY the employee biogen will keep.
