Can someone please tell me why everyone seems disgruntled?
I would really like feedback as to various depts. (marketing, operations, training, field leadership, etc...)
What is the overall essence here?

Which division are you looking at? If it is hospital sales, I wouldn't come onboard. Don't take my word for it. You need to call at least 5 existing hospital sales reps and get their sincere opinion. If you don't do this and yield to the lies from management than its your own fault because you have been warned. Use common sense. Why would Everyone be leaving if this were a good company? I would venture to say at least 4 out of the 5 are looking for a new job UNLESS they are brand new and don't know any better yet. Mallinckrodt does not have a good reputation now and are known for over-inflating the drug prices and the hospitals have taken this very personally. Rather than growing, most hospitals are looking for ways to decrease usage if not eliminate it altogether. So right of the bat, you lost the respect from all the hospitals in name alone. Your name and reputation will then be solidly associated with this company and it has ruined a lot of reputations. Everyone in my district is looking. The majority of the original salesforce (Cadence) is now gone. The Hemostat products are purely commodity products and it is an attempt to get into the OR, which phar,act will not allow as long as you are selling the IV acetaminophen product. In a time where price sensitivity is high, this company is not focused on anything besides that.
There are no special benefits, no special pay, nothing special that sets this company apart. Marketing was recently torn apart as all the good people,refused to move out of California. Training was headed by a rep who lived in St. Louis and got promoted because no one else was willing to move to St. Louis. Management makes very poor decisions with no consideration for the salesforce. The benefits are average at best. Car program is poor and you need to purchase a new car after 4 years. Please ask away. Why would this position draw you in? What intrigues you?
 






leadership can't make up mind and changes thinking too often. when makes decisions questionable. decides to notify hq employees last year they need to move or leave but can't tell them where they move to. lack of planning and common sense. whole company in running unfocus which trickles down to field because hq is in ruins. if things settle down it could get better. but look at past. be careful
 






JDP and MM made horrible decisions and an even a worse purchase of the hemostats !!! This too will be a disaster. The Recothrom launch was a joke. No one is selling it! They didn't trust us with Previleak. Raplixa will go through materials in a lot of hospitals. Insane decisions being made in the home office. Where do these people come from? Commission plan is a joke as well. Salaries are good. That's all they have going for them. Previous poster was correct...the car plan sucks. We all lose money.

Acthar pulmonary division totally screwed! We only have ONE indication and have to compete with rheumatology rep for patients as rhu can now get full credit if their doctor writes for sarc. But pulm doesnt get full credit if pulm writes for RA or SLE. This policy is very unfair and decisions similar to this have led to the downfall in other companies. Goodbye Fran and thanks for NOTHNG!

Agreed! Not one rep has opened their mouth about Recothrom. Not even a minute of time. I can also attest the car plan stinks but then again there ar no benefits here that are good. There is absolutely no culture here. They live only on sale and price and no development whatsoever in regards to the employees and culture of the organization. They are only good at one thing: RAISING DRUG PRICES
 






I'm the OP and thanks! I have to make a decision soon on whether to come over but I am seeing signs that it is about poor decision making and that is a big component of a strong organization. I hear that the organization is being revamped with new people and that may be a good thing. I have not heard good things about the marketing dept at this point and training. I also have not heard ANY good things about sales leadership and that would effect me more.

Listen, if you are only looking to make a jump for a couple of years then whatever. However, if you are looking to be with a company for at least a decent period of time like 5 years or even better retirement, don't consider this opportunity. I agree with some of the other posts. Besides, the poor leadership and lack of investment in its people, your reputation will be associated to poor decisions resulting in dramatic price increases that will lead to negative impressions on your reputation because you will be associated with this mess. Heed these warnings. This isn't a joke.

I couldn't agree more with this post. I wanted to add, if you do come over, be prepared to deal with the biggest bunch of whiney, coddled, underachieving babies you've ever been around. It's like a fucking daycare center that only has 1 toy. All you'll hear is bitching and moaning about how they deserve more and how great everyone is. thats just my 2cents
 












Acthar rep here, Mallinckrodt doesn't get "the customer" should be treated fairly and with respect. Because there is no one running the ship, per say, no phone calls e-mails, etc are ever returned to them. I have never felt so SLIMY doing a job in my life. It doesn't seem like there is any direction or leadership from the top. I can assume things will only get worse when everyone from Heyward and everyone from St Louis leaves. Reimbursement for new Acthar Rx's are very low, the majority of dollars are coming from refills that have been approved the year earlier. I can't see the insurance company changing their tactics any time soon. I am totally shocked that we are growing dollars every quarter…not sure how long it will keep it up. I agree with the other poster, if you need a job…you can stay her a year or two, until you find another. I don't see it being a pleasant place to stay and/or retire. I have been to many biotech's, the same thing happens when you get bought…but this is far below anything I have experienced. At my age, I would welcome a JNJ, genentech or another large company because of the retirement benefits. Mallinckrodt is a generic warehouse and doesn't see that the reason the Dr's are still writing is because of relationships I have. So no real whining, my mananger is awesome, but no stock options, etc, there are other places that you can gain greater wealth. I do believe if an equal or slightly better opportunity would one along, most of the sales force would jump. Unfortunately, the way the industry is now most new companies aren't paying because they don't have to!
 






OP here. I very much appreciate the honest feedback. I have heard good and have heard bad - like any other company. However, one hopes that with a 'change' it leadership or people in general, that the culture could shift. It is my understanding that the QuestCor acquisition inherited a bunch of overpaid whiners. I just accepted a position yesterday elsewhere. I felt that Mallincrodkt in a process being built but you need the RIGHT leaders and STRONG leaders. I did not get a sense that this is in place...yet. Thanks again.

I don't think your statements are the least bit fair. The environment here is a cesspool and there's no wonder why people would complain. It's those that complain that don't do anything about it where you can comment, but I happen to know most people are looking very hard to find new jobs.

I couldn't agree more with THIS post. We all noticed the whining and entitlement right after the transaction of QCor was completed, and we actually started working with them. They keep spouting about "Mali karma", but seems to me that their past, shallow, greedy lives actually brought the karma to them! These jokers keep "threatening" to leave, but here they stay.......because their "talent" isn't enough to get them hired at the same high salaries anywhere else. Greedy, whiney, coddled bitches is on target with the description of that group. You would have to work with them if you take a job here.......better to take a steel toed boot kick to the balls.
