Hmmm...bleeding disorders or area sales manager?

The ASM for Philly and the ASM for NJ area resigned, creating an opening. They have already started interviewing for the positions which will likely be short term since this market can't survive the forked management structure of sales reporting to a sale manager and operations reporting to an OPS manager. My bet is that by year's end they will adopt a reporting structure similar to Lincare's model where the sales staff will just report to the Center Manager, which means the Area Sales Manager jobs will be out the door. At least it will be a good resume padder for the next job!

What does a BD specialist actually "sell", the services and reputation of this company? Doesn't that mean they have to rely on the professionalism of the clinical people assisting with transfusions, etc? Does the quality of the locations really determine the success? It seems there's a lot of factors outstanding that are beyond the sales reps imediate contol, no?

The Area Sales Manager position has been filled. The bleeding disorders position will most likely be filled internally as well. The bleeding disorders specialist will be in charge of managing Negative Pressure Wound Care pumps in a very large geographic territory.
