HEISMAN???

So what are everyone's thoughts concerning the Heisman this year?

Personally I think that Jameis Winston will win it. Mariota is out, Johnny Manziel is out, Baylor QB is out...

If Jameis is not charged with Sexual Assault he will win it. The case is a rather complicated one, it looks like both the FSU Campus Police and the Tallahassee PD might have covered some things up. Personally people here in Birmingham are shocked. Jameis was a great High School QB at Hueytown High who never got in any kind of trouble. I am not saying he did not do it but you just never know what kind of things can happen?

If Jameis does not get the Heisman I think AJ McCarron is deserving of this award. Ok I know, I am an Alabama Fan. I also know that the Heisman is awarded to the player with the best single season performance. AJ does not have the best Stats but come on!!! AJ has been the starting QB to win 2 back to back National Championships and is now in the running for his 3rd in a row! He is a great game manager and good person. I don't think AJ will be fooling around on his girlfriend anytime soon. :)

What are your thoughts? I just don't see a lot of real Heisman contenders this year?

I would not count them out just yet-- they have one more game left. I would not give the Heismand to any player with any controvery, so I hope Wineston is out. I am liking Nadeem Carey of AZ -- he has played incredibly well the last few games.
Maybe AJ McCarron, he also has a lot going for him----BTW--- why did BAMA fire their asst coach??

He was illegally funneling Money to a player.

The assistant coach gave a "loan," to the Defensive Back-Ha Ha Clinton Dix back in July. Ha Ha (Some Crazy Nick Name I know) was benched for 4 games in October. The violation was reported to the NCAA and Coach Saban took preventative action by benching him for the easiest games on Bama's schedule.

This is the new way teams are dealing with the NCAA. Just a few short years ago players were kicked off of teams or ruled ineligible for an entire season for things like this.

Case in point, the whole Jameis Winston controversy. FSU is still playing a guy who will be charged with sexual assault very soon. Even when there was a suspicion of violating a NCAA rule a player was benched in the past. Not anymore...

Yeah, funny how Jim-Bob (or whatever the new coach's name is), is carrying on in the Bobby Bowden/Scum Bag Player tradition.

How about Boston College’s Andre Williams ? Shouldn't he be in the race?

Certainly would never defend someone accused of sexual assault if it is true, but I smell something wrong with this whole story.

Winston was a redshirt freshman when this happened a year ago. Why wasn't this pursued then?

As much as I hate the Noles, I really like Winston. And we will probably never hear the whole story. Now it's reduced to a he said-she said, and it's sad for both parties, no matter if it was an assault, or consensual sex and now he's being accused.

I hate this shit.

So does Brent Musburger == when they played Clemson, you would have thought Winston was the second coming of Jesus Christ himself. On and on and on......although, I have to admit, he was ON that night. Tajh was NOT, and neither were any of the receivers.

I have not heard his name mentioned much? I think the Arizona QB will be mentioned. It seems that the Heisman the last few years have gone to teams who are in the National Championship hunt.

I agree this is definitely a complex issue. I guess my main question is why would a young woman subject herself by going to the hospital (rape kit administered) and having to deal with the police? Back in December of last year Jameis was not the "Famous Jameis," we now know.

TMZ broke this story a few weeks ago. Someone at the Tallahassee PD leaked the story. The victim did not pursue the case after February because the Tallahassee PD were very slow to respond and intimidating. Maybe she finally told her parents recently? I am sure some victims do not want to tell their parents because they might be ashamed.

I think the damage is already done for Jameis this year concerning the Heisman. He can win it another season, at FSU or not.

Agree, the damage is probably already done and also, I hate this shit. This stuff has been going on forever. We all know cases where a woman has stretched consensual sex into rape and we all know of cases where a guy got away with it. Then it becomes, he said, she said. I suspect that often the answer lies somewhere in between if you follow my drift. Kids get carried away experimenting and have regrets later. Who knows? I hope it gets sorted out but I think the damage has been done and it's too controversial. At least this guy can have a great pro-career and maybe this will enable him to be smart enough to avoid this when he's a pro.

Maybe the 1st and 2nd time was consensual and the 3rd and 4th time were not? It's like Jay-Z says "It's hard to scream with the bed rail is in your mouth.."
