Industries outside of healthcare develop new ways to innovate, motivate, and practice operational techniques to enhance their organizations. Industries such as retail, internet, software, and restaurants are customer services driven—companies like Amazon display exceptional customer services and excellent managerial techniques.
Amazon puts customers' best interest at the forefront of every purchase by making it easy to return an item or cancel a service. Amazon continually reinvests its profits to improve communication with customers, speed up service, and find an innovative delivery method. Being kind and understanding when customers want to return helps build the kind of trust Amazon is famous for (McGovern, 2014). Also, making a great product is an integral part of a customers' experience. Amazon has created an ordering system that has provided several components we now expect as consumers.
Therefore, Amazon's leadership style has been classified as a pragmatist. Pragmatist leaders set high standards and unapologetically expect those standards to be met by themselves and their employees (Dudoviskiy, 2020). Amazon efficiently exercises visionary and servant leadership styles and places exceptional customer service as its business practice. However, Amazon has proven to be one of the most customer-friendly companies; they still faced leadership challenges such as sustaining the business's profitability despite the current thin profit margin. Amazon has dealt with this challenge through process innovations, deriving maximum benefits from human resources, and continuously entering new business segments.
The healthcare industry should help team members and organizations perform optimally in a continually evolving environment. Influential health care leaders possess rare talents combining critical medical and business competencies. Together, the competencies allow leaders to gather resources and support that produces outstanding organizational productivity. Servant leadership styles would help to energize human resources within organizations. This optimization of intellectual capital is further enhanced by transforming organizations into adaptable learning organizations. While traditional institutional hierarchies are flattened, efforts to evoke change are typically team-driven and mission-oriented (Schwartz and Tumblin, 2002).
Also, influential health care leaders recognize how current and future information technology improves administrative operations and decision-making. Technology resources can enhance staff member productivity, such as tablets and other handheld computing devices. Additionally, influential health care leaders implement long-term plans to ensure organizational, technological advancement. Lastly, health care leaders motivate staff members to pursue organizational goals and improve client and community wellbeing vigorously. They develop these powerful skills by making the most of every professional relationship in their circle of influence.
