Management! This word has so many connotations to it. Management is responsible for everything, from employee well-being to organizational functioning. Great management techniques need to sustain and evolve, without being overbearing and controlling. As aptly stated by "What Are the Top Management Techniques?" (2019) website, “employee productivity starts with good management.” There are several individual industries that have successfully arrayed innovative management techniques and thrived.
Identifying Industries with Innovative Techniques
Innovative techniques come from innovative leaders. The top five innovative leaders that have demonstrated successful leadership, and businesses, are Jeff Bezos of Amazon, Pete Cashmore of Mashable, Mark Zuckerberg of Facebook, Reid Hoffman of LinkedIn, and Mary Barra of General Motors (Comaford, 2019). The article further states how leaders have repeatedly demonstrated the importance of creativity, putting the consumer in the forefront, treating employees like cohorts to make them feel like they are part of the team, and generating and executing ideas from employees as part of the decision-making.
Transferring Ideas to Healthcare
The healthcare industry lacks the force that is generated by the industries mentioned above. Healthcare organizations, especially non-profit, tend to focus on patients and patient-outcomes. Google, for example, has spent excessive amounts of time and resources to figure out what extract’s creativity and performance from an employee. Although, if lead appropriately, with conviction, healthcare employees can enjoy the same work enthusiasm. The key to happy, and satisfied, employees is to give them an opportunity to voice their ideas and, if feasible, implement them.
What could Work
Giving employees a stake or decision-making capabilities, helps promote enthusiasm and creativity. Every problem has solutions, but those solutions don’t necessarily need to come from upper management. The employees that are working in and through those situations might have ideas or solutions that need to be heard. Similar to Google, if healthcare management regularly surveys employees for ideas, solutions and a smoother workflow can ensue faster (He, 2019). This will also allow employees to feel like they are valued and that their opinions matter enough for implementation. This can eventually lead to employees finding creative solutions for anticipated issues. Learning from employees can help extract information, create alertness, and generate more involved employees, which can all lead to success.
Conclusion
In conclusion, empowering employees is one of the many keys to success. As demonstrated in Patel (2019), engaging employees create a sense of responsibility, passion, and eagerness to do more. A constant survey of employee experiences or feelings help management realize what is currently being done, and what needs to be done for a successful outcome. Satisfied employees can make or break an organization.
