Health care is a very demanding field to work in because of the severity of the job. Different things can alter the experience for individuals. There are several things that people contribute to the field to help things run smooth. There are many things that can be done to improve the overall quality of health care. The major thing to do is to implement techniques from other fields. This article will address different techniques outside of health care and describe how it can be utilized in the health care sector.
An industry outside the health industry is sales. Sales is covers a wide range of things from customer interaction to transactions. Sales is the activity or business of selling products or services (WebFinance Inc., 2019). There are many things that the health care field can take from the sales industry. One major things that occurs in the sales industry is sales forecasting. There are three different sales forecasting techniques which are qualitative, time series analysis and projection, and casual models (Chambers, Mullick, and Smith, 1971). Qualitative involves looking at information from individuals that specialize in the particular area or things of this nature. Time series analysis and projection looks at the past for predictions. The final technique takes into account relations between elements. All three of these techniques could be used in health care. Another thing that health care could make their own is to gamify. This is a specific skill in the sales industry. To gamify refers to just making work fun (Krogue, 2014).
In conclusion, all three sales forecasting techniques can be used in healthcare to help predict patient turn out. Qualitative can look to retirees to gauge the time frame when health care is at high demand at the facility. Time series analysis and projection would look at the past to determine patient turnout rate and even illness. The casual models would find a correlation between different elements to predict things. For example, if there is a new medication being introduced doctors should expect a high amount of patients requesting the prescription if everyone hears that it is affective. Lastly, health care should definitely gamify the experience. Obviously, it is a very serious thing that happens when someone visits the hospital but sometimes just making someone smile changes the entire experience.
