Please "select" me!! Just wondering if anyone has received the HR form volunteering to be laid off, with the blah, blah, blah message from your dept. head? Many of us in Upper Gwynedd received and would like to know of other locations that have received this.

Yes in Rahway DPS. Last time though, no one was chosen.
 
















Dps = discovery/preclinical
Several handraisers in my area of dps were accepted/selected last time around (2010). We also got the recent notice. 25+ years, nearly 50, what to do, what to do???
 




Just cuz you raise your hand doesn't mean it is automatic...it is a factor in the overall decision for each person that raises their hand. They look at "job fit".
DPS = Discovery and Preclinical Sciences = basic research

If they took all the handraisers in sales, the sales force would be pretty empty.
 




I am legacy SP. From what I understand the severance from Merck isnt too great. When SP people got let go, for example, a sales rep with 6 years with company got 6 months severance. You could raise your hand and end up doing contract sales. Its a tough decision. But, at least then you get paid to look for a job, which is a fulltime job when you are looking in medical sales. I am unhappy but have not wanted to take the time to apply, interview etc. When I get to the boiling point I will have to.
 




Finance in corp got the handraiser e-mail from Kellogg months ago but selections have not been made. As stated, it's just a factor in the layoff decisions and there are no guarantees. All 2011 notices will be given by 10/31/2011 to qualify for the 2011 plan. There is a regulatory 60 day notice period under the federal WARN Act for mass layoffs. So, if they notify you after 10/31, it will make your actual release date into 2012 and you will not qualify for the current package terms.
