I looking into interviewing for a full line rep position sales position w/ Gyrus in the ENT div. Could someone please elaborate on the products that I would have in my bag. Is this 100% cap equip sales? What is the pay structure, 100% comm, draw? What do the avg reps earn? What market share does Gyrus have? Who are their main competitors? thanks!

MDT ENT owns the market.

You will have a mix of capital and disposable items. Disposable ear tubes, sinus stents, tampons, ear implants. Gyrus is the market leader in ear implants, but it is not a large business sector and it is shrinking. They sell a sinus shaver and an ear drill for their ENT power platform. It is a capable system, but is second to the Medtronic XPS system for sinus and below everyone as an ear drill. Medtronic owns the ENT sector and will be your largest competitor. The Medtronic product line is broader and their reps are everywhere. Gyrus ENT also has a decent ENT instrument line.

With the Olympus take over, Gyrus ENT reps now sell scopes and video systems to ENT offices. This is a large spread-out and competitive market, but Olympus is one of the top players in this market so you should get a shot at most deals. Olympus has a seperate sales force for the OR, ENT reps cannot sell scopes or video to hospitals. Gyrus ENT reps seem to be spending a lot of time on office based business these days and little time in the OR. Every territory will have different earning potential, but I assume it is about a 130-150K plus expenses and benefits job.

Now you know what I know. Good luck
